I’m deeply honored by these words from Dr. Lana Seivers, former Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Education and former Dean of the MTSU College of Education. 💛

Dr. Seivers and I worked together at both the Department of Education and MTSU. Helping implement Tennessee’s Voluntary PreK program and leading three early childhood programs taught me that a strong start changes everything for a child, and for our state. That’s the work I want to carry to the state legislature.

If that’s the kind of representative you want in Nashville:

🗳️ District 49 neighbors, I’m asking for your vote. Early voting runs through October 29, and Election Day is November 3.

📞 Don’t live in the district? You can still help. Join a quick virtual phone bank training Thursdays at 6:30pm (the next one is tomorrow), then call whenever works for you. No experience needed! Sign up: https://www.mobilize.us/rcdp/event/1018796/

Thank you, Dr. Seivers, and thank you to everyone helping this campaign. 💜

Last Saturday Pat Clements for Rutherford County TN Commissioner 19 invited me to our local VFW Post 8422's monthly steak and potatoes night. .

My daughter and her husband joined us too. He’s a veteran who served three tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He put his GI Bill education benefits to use and went to welding school at TCAT and now, despite holding a 100% permanent and total VA disability rating, he continues to work full-time as a welder, a testament to the resilience and determination so many veterans carry with them long after their service ends.

The VFW provides a place where veterans in our community can connect, share their stories, and find support from those who’ve walked similar paths. It’s a gathering place, a lifeline, and for many, a second family.

The services offered by the VFW and its Auxiliary go far beyond a good meal. They advocate for veterans’ benefits, provide financial assistance in times of crisis, and connect veterans to mental health resources. They also visit local VA hospitals and veterans homes and make sure no veteran feels forgotten or alone.

By the end of the night, my son-in-law turned in his membership application to join the local VFW.

If you have a veteran in your life, or if you’re a veteran yourself, I hope you’ll look into what your local VFW has to offer. These organizations matter more than most people realize.

Tennessee still taxes your groceries, and working families feel it every time they check out. 🛒

My opponent’s plan only cuts the tax on fresh produce. Milk, bread, eggs, meat, and baby food are still taxed. There was a plan to end the grocery tax on ALL groceries and have big corporations cover the cost by closing loopholes. The Republican supermajority blocked it.

I’ll fight to end the grocery tax on all groceries and pay for it responsibly. Swipe to see the plans side by side.

🗳️ Early voting starts TOMORROW, Oct 14, and runs through Oct 29. Election Day is Nov 3. Share this with a neighbor who’s tired of paying more at checkout.

Every child deserves a fully funded public school.

In 2025, Mike Sparks co-sponsored HB6004, the Education Freedom Act, creating a private school voucher program that redirects public funding into scholarships families can use for private school tuition.

Over $200 million a year in state dollars, flowing out of the public school system that Tennessee children, teachers, and families depend on.

Connie Casha’s approach is different. She believes in fully funding public schools first nosiphoning off the resources they need to private schools. That means real investment: expanding access to pre-K, building toward universal childcare, and making sure every public school has what it takes to serve every child, not just the ones who can afford to private schools.

Every child, every family, every day, starting with the schools our children actually attend

Yesterday Joey and I joined the Smyrna Lions Club to serve lunch st the Smyrna Senior Center, and we met up with some wonderful people. Angela Wynne and Joanne Delk were also in attendance at the event. Our seniors have spent a lifetime showing up for their communities. Thank you to the Lions Club for bringing us together!

Then, Laura Lindsay and I knocked on close to 109 doors, and we ended the day with her casting her vote. 🗳️

It's been a full couple of days. Thank you for sharing your voice. Vote early through Oct 29, or on Election Day, Nov 3!

Last night the hard work of an extraordinary group of men and women contributed to flipping seven of our Rutherford county commission districts and one school board seat to blue.

County Commission:
District 1 — Hope Oliver
District 5 — Jeff Crum
District 11 — Wayne Sharpe
District 13 — Brendan Doughtie
District 16 — Cathy Watts
District 17 — Sean Gilliland
District 21 — Laura Clark

School Board Zone 1 — Jeanice McCord

A special shoutout to the winners whose districts overlap my district HD49: Jeff Crum (Commission District 5), Wayne Sharpe (Commission District 11), and Jeanice McCord (School Board Zone 1). These were some of the closest, hard-fought races in the county, and it was an honor to knock doors, phone bank, and wave signs alongside your campaigns these past two months. Our neighbors showed up and voted because you showed up and shared the importance of their voice and their vote.

And a special recognition to two candidates whose districts also align with HD49: Pat Clements (Commission District 19) and Jonathon Yancey (School Board Zone 7). Pat and Jonathon's numbers fell short of a win, but the numbers dont tell the whole story. Both ran campaigns that gave voters real choices and closed gaps that will shape these districts going forward. That groundwork matters, and they deserve recognition.

To everyone who voted, volunteered, or just showed up and stood in line, thank you. This is what local democracy looks like.

The work doesn't stop here. The road to flipping HD 49 continues these next 88 days. If you'd like to join my campaign team as a volunteer, get a yard sign, or join one of our upcoming community events sign up here:

I look forward to meeting you and sharing our voices now and at the voting booth in November.
