In Dubai & Filming my non profit, selffinanced series Hospitality Hope Exploring & Dining in Dubais small but superb, family run eateries is super fun and super fab with the young brilliant videographer & editor john cyriac. He s shoots with us but resists all temptations to eat since hes on a strict diet “cutting” (he calls it) thats becoz hes following his passion ...body building. No random changes every week — just sticking to the plan, staying disciplined, and improving over time. His trainer #SuhailNazim is superb. Me the fat tub is inspired to learn from him. Simply the best! The best shawarama in the world and leading me to it is the brilliant 29 year old chef SolemanHadd of the michelin starred #Moonrise. Its Valentines day and it suddenly got even more rosy as we bask in the warmth of the open kitchen where vertical stacks of thinly sliced and marinated chicken, grill and move slowly and deliciously. Chef Abdullah of #ShawaramaAlFarooj skilfully slices and pops it onto the frshly baked #saj with two different sauces. Im a shewarama fan... it dates back to the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century. To Soleman Im grateful to learn about the origin of the #Mexique spicy shewarama which owes its origins to the Malayali community. Here in the superb moist dripping with succulence Chicken Mexican Shawarma With Lebanese Bread, Saj is q bestseller. As is the mild garlic sauced Arabic Shawarma, Lebanese Chicken Shawerma
At 1.30 pm we had to pack and eat on the bonnet of Soleman s car since the rewtaurant staff went off for friday prayers. A whole new dimension gets added to our shewarama experience. This hugely popular eatery also serves beef shawarma in the late afternoon and sojuk too. Its the chicken (farooj) shawarama which makes it stand out as the very best. Thanks chef Soleman for guiding me here!
