It really is incredible what pops up on eBay sometimes.

Currently up for sale is this shooting script from an episode of Roseanne entitled "Of Mice and Dan", best known among our fan base as "the one with Blues Traveler". The episode, which aired on November 28th, 1995, centered around John Goodman's character, Dan Conner, who had been in a band years earlier. When they come back to town, Roseanne talks them into having Dan back up on stage. John appears in most of Act II of the episode, which culminates with Dan singing "Sweet Home Chicago" in a nod to the show's location.

Some observations from the script - on the guest cast, John's character is listed as "John Topper" (no relation to the erstwhile moe. manager), but in the rundown on the next page, he is listed as Ray "Stingray" Wilson, which was the name they actually ended up using. (Chan is unfortunately listed as "Chris Kinchla".)

The taping was on November 18th, 1995, the day between night 3 in Denver and their standalone show on the 19th in Mesa, AZ. I know nothing about sitcom production, but ten days from taping to air time seems quite impressive.

Roseanne would "repay" the favor by appearing on stage at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles on November 21st, singing Hook with the band.

This was episode 9 of season 8; John's updated rendition of the Roseanne theme song would start airing in season 9.

Video of the entire episode is paywalled through Peacock, but the Sweet Home Chicago finale is available on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp30e65FBzk

“I’m a PunkRocker Yes I Am”
I think I just gotta ditch the pretty boy hippie clean vocals and just be myself. I think this is the best vocal take I’ve done on this one yet. Still plenty of room for improvement, but I think this is how this one’s getting done now. #hookchallenge
