Day 3 Fri 9/11/26 @sustyclub Runway + Pop-Up Shop

From cotton to couture. 🖤

This theme explored the journey from the wealth created through the cotton industry to the fashion we know today a history that cannot be told without acknowledging the Black people whose forced labour produced much of the cotton that powered the industry.

Manchester became known as “Cottonopolis”, emerging as the heart of Britain’s cotton and textile industry. Cotton grown by enslaved people, particularly in the American South, was transported through the Atlantic trade, processed in Manchester’s mills and transformed into textiles that were exported across the world.

So when we talk about Manchester’s industrial success, we also have to acknowledge the Black lives and labour that were exploited within the system that helped build it.

From slavery to industry.
From cotton to textiles.
From textiles to fashion.

Black is beautiful. Black is powerful. Black is influential.

This is more than fashion. It is history, culture, resilience and transformation m taking a painful past and recognising the impact Black people have had on the world we see today. 🖤✨

Look, black is beautiful, black is excellent Black is pain, black is joy, black is evident It’s workin’ twice as hard as the people you know you’re better than
‘Cause you need to do double what they do, so you can level them
Black is so much deeper than just African-American
Our heritage been severed, you never got to experiment
With family trees, c

Dear Spider-Man,

I remember when my brother Kayembe Jr. came by when I was around 4 going on 5 and introduced me to Spider-Man “Tobey Maguire to be specific”.

I was instantly hooked.

He was my very first superhero and became completely embedded in my childhood.

Since then, I have watched every single movie and read nearly every comic out there, and every single iteration holds a unique place for me.

I love Spider-Man to the very end.

Here’s to more.

I still can’t believe I’ve lived long enough to see Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland share the screen.

Not only did they finally break the curse of the standard two-to-three-movie limit, but knowing a whole new trilogy is on the way has me beyond hyped.

I cannot wait to watch Tom become legendary. 🕷️🔥
