My brother @johnnywolf has a new idea.

Naturally, it involves him getting something for free.

He wants to build Embassy—a cognition lab for relational intelligence—inside someone else’s office.

The deal: if you’re a developer, investor, tech company, family office, or other capital operator with too much square footage and not enough magic, John will turn part of it into an immersive gallery / salon / temple of human intelligence.

You get the art, the world-building, the dinners, the interesting people, and whatever strange cultural gravity seems to follow him around.

He gets a desk.

Honestly, I’ve heard worse real estate proposals.

Who has the room?

The Déjà vu Wing 🩻

With the announcement of the upcoming @hospital.of.emotions — a site-specific pop-up exhibition in the former St. Vincent Medical Center — I couldn’t help but wonder: Am I lucky and weird enough to see *two different* art-ified abandoned hospitals in my lifetime? 🤔

The answer of course is that I am both of those things, so let’s jump back roughly a decade in my camera roll to the last time Los Angeles saw such a monumental artistic undertaking…undertooken. 🌀

I’m referring to Human Condition from 2016, a spectacular and frankly haunting showcase of 80 artists inside the former Los Angeles Metropolitan Medical Center in West Adams, which was the city’s first black-owned hospital. After operating successfully for decades, the facility was permanently closed in 2013 following allegations of criminal mismanagement and insurance fraud. 💸

Please enjoy some highlights from this fantastic showing from global art advisor John Wolf, and if you’re one of the artists, let me know so I can tag you! I’m more thorough in my art photography today than I was 10 years ago. 🙏🏼

“THEATER OF SHADOWS”
Feb 26-May 25
What an incredible way to celebrate @graye_la’s 15th anniversary and Frieze weekend. Theater of Shadows transformed the space into a moody, immersive exploration of light, space, and emotion with @lamag.

Under the creative direction of Benjamin Juhel, Living Divani’s beautifully refined furnishings were paired with site-specific projections, cinematic soundscapes, and layered textures that completely drew you in. Inspired by film noir, the films played with silhouettes and shadow in slow, contemplative moments, while Nuit Américaine captured Los Angeles in all its contrast from city streets to wild landscapes. Poetic, atmospheric, and deeply sensory - a reminder of how powerful light (and shadow) can be.
