I’ve tried hundreds of pizzas across the USA, and I keep coming back to this one. 🍕🔥

John’s of Bleecker Street has been making coal-fired pies since 1929, and it still tops my list every time. The Boom is loaded with tomato, roasted peppers, and mozzarella on a thin af crust that’s done to perfection.

📍 278 Bleecker St, NYC. Whole pies only, cash friendly, expect a line.

New York says fold it. Chicago says fork it. New Haven says char it. Detroit says give me the corner. Only one gets the crown. Fight it out below.🍕

Taste your way through the debate: America's pizza icons are on sale all October on @goldbelly.

John’s of Bleecker Street. Forty-four years on the peel, and Luis is still pulling beauties out of that coal oven.

I got behind the counter with the guys turning out some 500 pies a day between two ovens. A little heat, a lot of dough, and a lifetime of knowing when a pizza’s ready.

Walking the streets and gathering the stories for my book, “100 New York City Pizzerias.”

Not my pie this time. Instead I tried @johnsofbleeckerstreet for the first time last night. One of the best pizzas I’ve ever had.

Even tried to convince them to let me go behind the counter to make my own pie to no avail, but it led to a great conversation with the owner (manager?) about who makes the best pizzas in NYC.

What are your thoughts on that?
