@joincountdown has appointed Julie Teer as Chief Executive Officer, bringing more than two decades of leadership experience across healthcare, philanthropy, public affairs and nonprofit organisations.

Teer most recently served as Senior Vice President of Wellstar Health System and President of the Wellstar Foundation, where she led philanthropic growth and major enterprise-wide initiatives.

I’m so grateful to @joincountdown Countdown, and to @mitzisolomon and @jeffmsolomon, for bringing together such an incredible group of people who are genuinely committed to changing the future of health. Countdown is doing important work to raise awareness and accelerate research around mitochondrial health, and it was an honor to be part of the conversation.

I loved sharing the stage with so many thoughtful voices and talking about the role that community, storytelling, and education play in creating real change. Watching Scott host the event and moderate such insightful conversations made me even more excited about where this movement is headed.

Weekends like this remind me how powerful it is when passionate people come together around a mission bigger than themselves. Thank you to everyone who made it so special.

Twas’ a lovely afternoon with @joincountdown exploring mitochondrial health, longevity science, and the breakthroughs shaping what’s next in human health.

I’ll admit, until this event I was a little skeptical of the biohacking space. On the outside, it can feel like an endless stream of anti-aging claims and miracle promises. But after yesterday’s Energy Luncheon, I left genuinely excited about the science behind mitochondrial health.

Remember learning that mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell? They do a lot more than help you pass 7th-grade biology. As we age, their fiery functions decline, and researchers are looking at how that may play a role in things like chronic inflammation, brain fog, exhaustion, and other “unexplained” symptoms.

It’s mind-boggling that so many people go to the doctor with these symptoms, yet mitochondrial health isn’t even part of the conversation. Instead, it often feels like the answer is, “Here’s a Band-Aid and some antibiotics,” regardless of the underlying issue.

Countdown’s mission is to fund mitochondrial research and bring together the scientists, physicians, and innovators who can actually move this field forward. Rather than only reacting once something goes wrong, which often feels like the norm in Western medicine, Countdown is also studying what happens at the cellular level before disease develops. No matter what your age, we could all benefit from more Preventative care!

One of the things I love most about the Hamptons is that it’s not just about beautiful beaches and great workouts—it’s also a place where wellness, innovation, and meaningful conversations come together.
