Our very good friends from Aftergold are coming over.

On Sunday, October 25, Chef Nate Kuester (nmkuester) and Master Sommelier Jonathan Eichholz (@jonathandrinkswine) join us at Place des Fêtes for a one-night chalkboard takeover.

Nate is a U.S. finalist in the San Pellegrino Young Chef competition, and Jonathan comes with a background at @aquavitnyc and @themodernnyc.

For the evening: we’ll have special dishes from Nate, wine selections from Jonathan, and our regular menu including PDF favorites and seasonal dishes alongside.

We’re very happy to have these two in the house. Join us.

Laura DePasquale MS, Julie M. Dalton MS, Jonathan Eichholz MS and Jim Bube MS will join a session moderated by Jenny Hemmer DipWSET and Stevie Kim, bringing together Master Sommeliers, wine professionals and Italian producers to discuss what really happens once a wine enters the U.S. market.

Together, they will address the questions that often stay behind the scenes: what makes a sommelier taste, list and pour a wine? How much do price, margin, appellation, availability and distributor support matter? And what do Italian producers need to understand once they enter the U.S. market?

This year’s featured sommeliers include Jonathan Eichholz, MS of Aftergold in New York, New York.
Jonathan is an internationally award-winning sommelier who has worked at Michelin-starred restaurants Aquavit and The Modern in New York City. In 2019, he was named “Best Young Sommelier in America” and went on to place second in the “Best Young Sommelier in the World” competition before achieving the prestigious rank of Master Sommelier in 2023.
Jonathan is an educator for GuildSomm and host and co-producer of The Wine Show on Vice Media. He also collaborates on the fine dining concept Aftergold in lower Manhattan and is a Certified Cicerone.

Jonathan is an internationally award-winning Master Sommelier who has worked at Michelin-starred restaurants Aquavit and The Modern.

He is an Educator for GuildSomm, a membership organization of 10,000 sommeliers worldwide, and the host of Vice Munchies’ The Wine Show.

In 2023, Jonathan achieved the rank of Master Sommelier. In 2019, he won the Best Young Sommelier in America competition and went on to place second in the Best Young Sommelier in the World. He is also a Certified Cicerone and an alumnus of Colby College.

His work connects restaurant service, wine education, competition and media, bringing a broad sommelier perspective to this year’s program.
