I’m from the Midwest, and I’ll be honest, loving LA hasn’t always come easy for me. It’s a city that can feel massive and yet strangely lonely.

When I started Unitē @theuniteapp, I wanted to create something I felt was missing here. What I didn’t realize was how much I was building something I was missing too.

A week ago, almost 20 of us went to the Hollywood Bowl to see Orville Peck @orvillepeck. The Bowl is already magical on its own, but looking down the row and seeing all of us there together, sharing that night, hit me.

Because this is the part of LA I think I had been missing.

Not more things to do. Not more people to meet. More life with people.

Nights you remember. Friends you actually get to know. People you see again and again until they become part of your life. And maybe, over time, part of your family.

And lately, I’ve had more and more moments where I look around and think, this is the LA I’ve been wanting to know.

I don’t know what flipped this past week, but this is the first time in four years this city has felt like home. Like really, home.

And I think a lot of it has been realizing how much the people around you shape the way a city feels.

LA feels different to me right now. Fuller. More connected. More like a life I actually want to be part of.

And I’m really grateful for that.

Sunday funday looks a lot different these days… and I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🙏✨

Today was spent wandering through LACMA, laughing, soaking in art, friendship, and the simple beauty of being fully present. Sobriety has given me so much more than I ever imagined — real connection, meaningful friendships, peace of mind, and moments like this that fill my heart 💜

Grateful for these trudging buddies who continue to walk beside me through life, one day at a time. Recovery has taught me that joy doesn’t have to be loud or chaotic — sometimes it looks like good conversations, shared laughter, beautiful art, and a group photo surrounded by light.

My heart is full 🫶

Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. I had the honor of hosting my sponsor’s 20th anniversary yesterday—what an incredible milestone. Congratulations, @thesteveholzer Your strength and commitment continue to inspire me every day.

There’s nothing like being surrounded by my sobriety family—so much love, support, and shared purpose in one room. And a special thank you to @itsjonldn and @otero_inc for helping bring it all together so seamlessly.
