Honeymoon Diaries
Days 28-30 - Canadian Beauty

Our last leg of the trip took us driving through British Colombia and the Rocky Mountains in Alberta towards Calgary for our flight home.

We drove the total distance of John O’ Groats to Lands End over 2.5 days and saw some beautiful scenery! Lake Louise & Banff were particularly gorgeous with crisp clear blue skies.

That is now it for the honeymoon diaries! If you’ve read and looked at every post thank you and sorry for boring you.

Most of all thank you to everyone who gifted us money or bought specific things for us to do on this trip! It really has been the trip of a lifetime! 😍😍

Yes… we’ve been slow on the updates. A mixture of hurricane stress and then relaxing means we’ve not done this…

So here’s a week in Mexico 🇲🇽

- Xochimilco canal trip with some tequila shots, food and games
- Travelling out of the city to their newer airport to spend Carl’s birthday waiting for the flight to PV
- Finally relaxing by the pool or in the pool with an infinity view.
- Releasing turtles from a conservation campsite as the sun sets
- lots and lots of good tasting food!! 🐽

Now we head to Canada for a drive through the Rocky Mountains 🚙

And thank you to my husband for the lovely dinner 😊 even if the walk up to the restaurant was a sweaty one, it was worth it!

Days 16-19 - Mexico City

Between some bad weather and jet lag, we’ve not managed to see or do a lot over the last few days, but we’ve managed to see some good parts of Mexico City, our favourite being the lucha libre on Friday night.

Saturday we explored the cobblestone streets of Coyoacán in the afternoon, as the sun finally showed its face for a few hours.

Day 15- Tokyo Pokemon Day

We started the morning making our own chopsticks with our names engraved on them. This was a very cute experience and would recommend it for a nice momentum.

We then thought we’d check out the nearby Pokemon centre before we headed for a bit of a wonder before heading for PokePARK KANTO. But found ourselves managing to secure a walk in evening booking for the Pokemon Cafe!

So we rushed to the PokePARK KANTO and a TIME WAS HAD. Carl’s dream had been made to walk around as if he was a Pokemon trainer. We caught ourselves some magikarp, visited the Pokemon centre and took a walk through the forest spotting Pokemon as we walked.

Back to the cafe in the evening, which was so cute!! Snorlax burger was so well thought of.

Suitcases packed and full of stuff from Japan, we now make our way to Mexico !

Day 14- Studio Ghibli Park

A park designed for introverts I think.. a very peaceful day wondering the world of Studio Ghibli.

Definitely worth the detour!

Day 13- Universal Studios Japan

Very very wet day had at USJ yesterday, but we made the most of it when we could. Surprised by the flying dinosaurs ride!

We also had an amazing time at the Supermario world. Going around collecting coins.

Safe to say an early night was had after that.

Day 12- Osaka
Bright lights and big heights

Whilst the weather was finally on our side for some tall sightseeing, we went up 170m to the Umeda Sky Building to get a view of Osaka.

We of course visited the Osaka pokemon centres and checked out the 3 legendary birds and the Pokemon cafe (sadly no space for us to eat).

So we took to the streets of Dotonbori known for its food markets and the infamous Don Quijote ferris wheel. Before finishing the night with some drag from a very British sounding queen in Eagle Osaka.

Day 11- Kyoto

Really trying to fit in as much as possible into one day today as we left for Osaka the next day.

So castles, nightingale floors, temples with dragons 🐉 and bamboo forests & serene gardens.

Safe to say we’ve barely scratched the surface on Kyoto and so much to see next time we come back.

We also bumped into a friend from when we lived in Devon whilst in Kyoto, so he joined us for the garden tour ☺️

Day 10- Kyoto

Onsens, Castles, Markets & city life.

Starting the day off with a private onsen at the hotel, we then went for a walk around the impressive imperial palace before exploring the market & city life.

We ended the day with a lovely meal with amazing Wagu Beef before heading to a small gay bar (Apple) which had karaoke going on that we may or may not have participated in.

Day 9- Odawara & Kyoto

Having travelled back down from the Hakone mountains, we had a spare few hours in Odawara before the bullet train, so we explored the castle and shrine.

On this leg of the journey the train takes you past Mt.Fuji, which you can definitely see and is definitely not covered by the cloudy weather.

Shortly after that, however, we suddenly saw sunlight, arriving in Kyoto to stunning weather. With a cute little message from the @mitsuigardenhotels wishing us a happy honeymoon.

After that we hit another Pokemon centre, where my boy was featured. Then we went for a nighttime walk of the inari shrines.
