“Somebody Real” ✨

This song comes from my own experience navigating a world where there can be pressure to fit in and play the game. It’s a reminder to stay true to yourself, stand by your values, and not lose sight of what really matters.

With GRAMMY® voting now open, I’m proud to share that “Somebody Real” was submitted for consideration in Best R&B Solo Performance, Best R&B Song, and the Harry Belafonte Best Song For Social Change Award.

A big thank you to @betovargas and everyone who was involved in bringing this song to life, as well as to everyone who has taken the time to listen and connect with its message. 🤍

Five works. Eight category submissions. 🙉

I was told early on that versatility could work against me in this industry. Years later, I’ve learned to see it as one of my strengths. From my own artist projects to collaborations, global music, and songs written for film, these submissions reflect the different worlds I get to create in.

Proud of the work. Grateful for the people. Excited for what’s next.

We’re entering the last quarter of 2026 and this year has already become one of the most memorable so far in our careers! From video games to television to movies, working on such a wide variety of genres and projects is one of the things I love most about producing. All of these projects and placements require a village of people to not only create the music with but also to help bring these songs to the various projects. We couldn’t do it without you all!

I have been rewatching Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show many times in the mornings just because it genuinely makes me feel GOOD ☺️
⠀
Watching thousands of people dance, hearing Spanish everywhere and feeling that insane amount of energy is basically my morning serotonin 😂
⠀
And the more I watched it, the more I started thinking:
Why did it resonate this much?
⠀
I’ve done many performances in my life, especially during my work with artists and being a producer on TV.
So I had NO doubt it would end up winning 7 Emmys.
⠀
Obviously, Bad Bunny being Bad Bunny helps a lot😛
I mean…come on 🤤🫠
⠀
But there is actually much deeper meaning here!!
It’s about courage, identity, craft and purpose.
⠀
So I wrote down my thoughts.
And I’m probably going to watch the show again tomorrow morning😂❤️
⠀
What did YOU feel watching it?

I love LOVE performing this song. Leans toward Hip Hop bravado - lots of frustration and injustice in there as well BUT made for the dance!

I made this record to break the ice when performing live in the various cities I toured as a solo artist - not as a host or MC.

Some nights, the only thing you have left is prayer. 🙏🏽
You hustle, you struggle, you fall, you get back up… because giving up is not an option.

JAHO is my story, but I know it’s a story many of us are living. ❤️‍🩹

✨Avengers, assemble! ✨If you’ve seen my last post, you already know what we’re building. If not, quick version: I’m putting together a group of songwriters, producers, and musicians for real sync opportunities, calling it the Sync Avengers.

We’ve already gotten a ton of interest, which is awesome.

Who’s this “we”? It’s me (check my credits, Google me if you want), and I’m teaming up with an amazing engineer/producer, Steve “Dr” White, who’s worked with artists like GHerbo, DDG, Coi Leray, and Tory Lanez.

There’s a quick application, comment “TEAM” and I’ll send it to you.

It asks a few deeper questions on purpose. We’re not trying to fill a spreadsheet, we’re trying to find people worth building with. Take the few minutes, answer it fully, and you’ll have a real shot at standing out.

Know a songwriter, producer, or musician who should see this? Send it to them, or tag them below.

totally forgot to tag @paging_dr.white (amazing engineer/producer, legend, baller) who I’m quarterbacking this team with.

So…

A little over a decade ago I was on the other side of the desk …inside the machine at places like Universal and INgrooves, watching sync deals move through companies like Netflix and A+E, learning exactly what makes a placement happen.

For the last 5 years I’ve been on this side of it-writing and producing music that actually lands on screen. Some of my biggest credits so far are on Nickelodeon shows like Blues Clues and Bubble Guppies.

Here’s what both sides taught me: the placements don’t go to the best song. They go to the team that can deliver great songs, on time, over and over.

We’re building that team right now.

A solid group of songwriters, producers, and musicians who we can bring sync opportunities to - aka people who show up, work hard, and check their ego at the door.

If that’s you, or you know someone who fits - we want to hear about it.

Comment “TEAM” and I’ll send you the details. 🎵
