Summers round the corner and we are most definitely spending all of our days at the beach! So, we hopped onto @luma_au_ to purchase some gifts for the little ones 🙏🏽

After receiving these hats, we could feel the effort and detail gone into the quality of the fabric used for comfort, style and longevity. These feel like hats that will last!

A quick little try on for the little ones and they love them too!

A pull up is more than getting your chin over the bar. How you initiate the movement, control your shoulder blades and position your body all influence how you execute the rep.

On the left, we see the shoulders elevating towards the ears, less obvious scapular retraction and depression, and a pronounced lean back with the hips sitting further behind the bar. This changes the pulling mechanics and can lead to a less controlled movement.

On the right, we see a more deliberate initiation of the pull, with the shoulder blades moving into a more controlled position before driving the elbows down. That position is maintained more effectively towards the top of the rep, with the hips staying closer to underneath or slightly in front of the bar.

The goal isn’t to eliminate movement or force everyone into an identical position. It’s to develop the awareness and control to execute the movement with intent.

And to be clear, the position on the left isn’t automatically wrong. A more pronounced lean back or reduced range of motion can be used intentionally to change the mechanics and muscular demands of an exercise.

Different positions serve different purposes. The key is knowing what you’re trying to achieve and why.

Don’t just chase the rep. Learn to own the movement.
