Shark’s Ampullae of Lorenzini allow them to sense extremely weak electrical signals, including those produced by potential prey. Your camera and other electronic equipment may also create subtle electrical fields that can attract a curious shark’s attention and encourage it to come closer to investigate.

It has been an amazing tiger shark season @oneoceandiving , with unforgettable encounters and incredible opportunities to observe these powerful animals in their natural environment. When a tiger shark approaches, divers should remain calm, maintain awareness, and be prepared to redirect its attention while respecting the animal’s space.

Understanding what may be attracting a shark’s curiosity helps us respond calmly, confidently, and respectfully. Come dive with us and join our Advanced Tiger Shark Program for an unforgettable experience beneath the surface. First video. 7 reasons to visit the Cayman Islands

From the reef to the sandbar, there’s a lot more going on down here than just clear water. #caymanislands #underwaterphotography #travelphotography #ocean #traveladvice

Stingray City is one of those places that lives up to the hype.

The sandbar sits in the North Sound, where southern stingrays have been gathering for decades. What started around local fishermen cleaning their catch has turned into one of the most recognizable wildlife encounters in the Caribbean.

This was one of my favorite things about Cayman.

You can get in the water around George Town and end up swimming through limestone caves with tarpon moving around you. Eden Rock and Devil’s Grotto are right off the shore, so you don’t even need a boat to get there.

And then there are the chickens.

They’re just part of the scenery around the island. You’ll see them wandering around beaches, roads and neighborhoods like they’ve got somewhere important to be.

Cayman is surrounded by shallow, protected reefs, with everything from colorful gorgonians and hard coral to schools of fish, tarpon and some seriously good underwater visibility. There are hundreds of dive sites spread across the three islands.

The west side of Grand Cayman faces straight into the evening sun, and Seven Mile Beach gives you a front row seat.

🌊 THIS is what community-powered conservation looks like! 🦈🐢💙

MAHALO/THANK YOU to everyone who joined @savetheseaturtlesinternational & @oneoceanconservation yesterday for our monthly Reef & Beach Cleanup! Together we removed an enormous amount of debris, abandoned fishing line and entanglement hazards from the beach and Reef—helping protect sharks, turtles, coral and other marine life.
❤️ Special mahalo to 🧜‍♀️✨ @yasmimstrachan for leading the cleanup and to everyone who volunteered, donated, shared and supported us in person or online. 💙 It was especially heartwarming to see some of our volunteers back in the water this morning @oneoceandiving enjoying time with the sharks and marine life they helped protect 🦈
🚨The Reef still needs help. Experienced divers pleaE bring gloves, scissors and a mesh collection bag to carefully remove abandoned fishing line with a buddy as much as you can. Don’t interfere with actively fished lines, watch for hidden hooks, and cut and disentangle abandoned line rather than pull—pulling line can break living coral 🪸 and already so many are broken when fishermen try to pull their caught lines in. Avoid touching coral with bare hands.

❤️Huge mahalo to our prize and event supporters!
@exploreorg • @bremontwatches • #OneOceanDiving @oneoceandesigns • @oneoceanecolux @OneOceanBikini • @BrightBuoyDiving • @lagirlcosmetics • @cressi1946 • @honuabracelets

And special thanks to @tiffyb_loves_thesea for the delicious baked goods! 🧁✨ and @kookscoffee for providing ono jawsome caffiene power ☕️☕️❤️✨
.
Can’t make a cleanup? Joining us @oneoceandiving still helps. We remove marine debris and shark entanglements during our regular operations, and a portion of proceeds helps support cleanups, conservation and educational outreach.
.
📚As I write this, I’m heading to a free local keiki conservation presentation with more giveaways sponsored by One Ocean Divisions —and ultimately by all of you who choose to support us. 💙

Next event should be October 10th at the same place Kahé Point aka #electricbeach

One of Grand Cayman’s most unforgettable underwater adventures lies just beneath the surface. ⚓️🌊

The Kittiwake shipwreck has become a thriving artificial reef, where snorkelers can explore from above and certified divers can descend for a closer look at the ship and the marine life that now calls it home.

Add this one to your Cayman must-do list. 🤿

Beautiful footage by our friend @jonschutte of @just.storytellers.

REEF WATCH //
SPOTLIGHT

Acropora palmata (Elkhorn Coral) logged at Eden Rock, GT Mission Blue Hope Spot.

>> 8.8.26 >> DEPTH 15FT >> VERTICAL HEIGHT 3.5" >> FOOTPRINT 6.5"-7" >>

We are very excited to continue to monitor this colony and share updates on its progress.

Elkhorn Coral returning to our waters means that a vital, critically endangered reef-builder is coming back to shallow waters after a 90% to 98% region-wide drop caused by disease and warming. It shows that local conservation and natural resilience are working to rebuild lost marine habitats. 🪸

Tag a fellow reef lover / your dive buddy and let's raise some awareness. 💙🔱🪸

I’m not saying Mexico should be your next trip, but... 🇲🇽

After exploring Tulum, Playa Del Carmen, Holbox, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, and Mexico City, it’s impossible to view Mexico as just one destination.

Each spot brings a completely different energy:

Mexico City for the rich culture, history, and food (these photos were taken at Chapultepec Castle) 🏰

Puerto Vallarta for nightlife and mountain adventures 🌿

Tulum for cenotes and freediving 🌊

It never felt repetitive. Every spot completely resets your perspective.

Save this for your future trip planning! 📌

Where in Mexico are you dreaming of visiting first? Or if you’ve been, which spot is next on your list? 🇲🇽👇🏼
