2 ⭐️

Sorry, this was a miss for me. This is the 2nd Coco Mellors book I read, and though it was more enjoyable than the 1st one, it still fell flat to me.

Blue Sisters is basically a Little Women retelling with some differences such as: the family is dysfunctional instead of functional, the context is 21st century, and there is no Laurie character.

So the four Blue sisters lose their 3rd sister, and they’re dealing with the grief. They pretty much self destruct until they find and hang on to each other again.

It sounds like it would be really fantastic, but the dialogue at the beginning was really cringe (it gets better towards the end), and it all just kinda feels merggghhh. Despite a lot of trauma and drama, the execution just didn’t gut or move me emotionally. Like I expect such a premise to make me sob, you know? I connected way more with how Louisa May Alcott depicted sisterhood from 150+ years ago.

Having said that, there were some nice paragraphs and scenes here and there, and I was hooked enough to finish it in a day. 🤷🏻‍♀️

To be brutally honest, I’ll most likely pass if there is another book from this author.
