How can you pick and choose moments when LIFE is the highlight?

One of my very first clients once said something that has stuck with me 6 years on.

Back before I had developed the system I use now, I would prescribe calories and macros to people, and then chastise them if they slipped up on the weekend or on busy days with work.

Just be better.

Just hit the targets.

Just be more disciplined.

If I can do it, you can do it.

Weight loss is just math.

Calories in vs calories out.

But Brodie just couldn’t stick to it.

Beers after footy games on Saturdays, a cheeky ice cream throughout the week to help with the stress of 12 hour days, and date nights with the Misso.

He said to me: “Farns, I’m not a robot”.

At the time, I shrugged it off and just thought he was making excuses.

But over the years, I keep coming back to that statement.

We’re not machines.

We don’t run on computer programs.

We’re complex.

Life is diverse and challenging.

The trials we face and the victories we experience send us on emotional roller coasters.

Enjoyment of the present and connection with others is are important parts of the human experience.

Yes we need long term vision and delayed gratification to be successful, but if we don’t give ourselves the leeway to have fun along the way, then what’s the fucking point?

Recently, I had a boys trip to Manila for @andfriends.fest to see @subtronics @yellowclaw @porterrobinson & @adventureclub

I didn’t train, track calories or work.

I just soaked in some bass music and was present with some of my best mates for a few days before we go our separate ways again (the joys of being 30+).

Then I came home and got right back to it.

My message to you here:

Don’t become so obsessed with your goal that you forget to enjoy the journey.

Because like Brodie said, you’re not a robot.

Committed to you,

Coach Nicholas

who knew you could just use your free will to sit down on some crowded beach in Da Nang with a total stranger...

and then just 10 minutes in, shamelessly ask them to share about their dating life?! 😂🙌

haha anyway i actually first knew about @josefwho through another stranger I interviewed in my 365 Strangers in 365 Days series earlier this year (hi @thedivorceglowup ✨)

he made an app called @onehelloco where the goal was to say hello to one stranger a day, so I thought I definitely HAD to meet this person — just because we were chasing such similar missions!

super appreciate his vulnerability and i do hope these 3 episodes can feel like a warm hug to anyone who might be losing hope or dealing with heartbreak right now.

strangers, i promise you that you’re not alone and that things DO get better as long as you keep your heart & mind open ❤️‍🔥

Want to get free entertainment ask your non-circus friends what circus is 🎪

We spent a whole day with @josefwho training straps, talking about the industry and we even got him to point his toes!

Stay tuned for the next part! 👏🏻

For a relationship to thrive, @josefwho believes it takes three things: proximity, compatibility, and effort ✨

This week on Love-ly, @whathemehak_ sits down with Josef Miklavc, a content creator who has never quite learned how to stay in one place. Having grown up across six countries, Josef reflects on what it would mean to put down roots, choose commitment, and stay.

Together, they explore freedom, why fewer people seem to be choosing love, and what we lose when we’re always searching for what’s next.

💕 What You Lose When You Always Leave is out now. Link in bio.

Living a life of choice, not chance.

Another hectic week spent pursuing health, wealth, impact, connection and fun.

Is it hard? Yes.
Is it worth it? Hell yeah.

Grateful for the life I’m building and all the people in it ❤️

Week in review ⬇️

Life is good.

I’m training hard and improving every day. Getting stronger, fitter and more skilled in the art of 8 limbs.

I’ve joined a band as one of their singers and am living a childhood dream getting to belt out Nickelback and Linkin Park.

I’m getting back into racquet sports through pickleball and am enjoying throwing down every Sunday.

I’ve been prioritising spending more time with new and old friends instead of being so focused on work. I’m finally developing a sense of balance with this.

I’m constantly reminded every meeting how much I love working with my clients. Helping others achieve brings me such a sense of joy and fulfilment.

I had an impromptu jam with a random bloke in a cafe after the beach one day. Sun safety with my new flap-hat is easy AF.

I had four pints and a couple burgers one night and damn it feels good to be able to enjoy this without guilt. The next day run was tough, but so worth it.

Things feel like they’re in a state of flow.

Whatever it is you’re out there doing, I hope it’s going well for you too.

Just remember, life is about the journey, not the destination.

Learn to appreciate and be thankful for where you’re at. Even if you’re going through tough times.

Younger you would be stoked to see how well you’re doing.

Committed to you,

Coach Nicholas
