Dear Diary… It’s Me, Meredith.
Peru • Day 7 • FINAL ENTRY
Today’s lesson?
Never trust anyone who says, “It’s the last climb.”

Apparently, that translates to 2,400 feet of elevation gain, endless switchbacks, and enough stairs to question every life decision you’ve ever made.

I honestly thought today would be easier. Hahahaha.
The mountain had other plans.

As we climbed toward the Sun Gate, the scenery changed with every step. Gone were the frozen peaks and glaciers. Instead, lush green mountains, mist, and rainforest surrounded us.

And then…
There it was.
Machu Picchu.
It honestly looked photoshopped.
Ancient ruins.
Clouds dancing across the peaks.
A place so breathtaking it almost didn’t seem real.
It wasn’t just one of the New Seven Wonders of the World…
It felt like one of the wonders of my own life.

There were unforgettable memories made on that mountain…Including discovering that mint lemonade and hiking are not always compatible. Let’s just say…the mountain got a little piece of several team members.

Worth it.
Every single step.
The next day we returned as tourists instead of trekkers, soaking in the rich history, incredible engineering, and timeless beauty. Then we celebrated the journey with one unforgettable train ride home that quickly turned into a party with music, laughter, dancing, and the perfect way to close out an extraordinary adventure.
This journey was never just about Peru.
It was about saying yes to joy. Yes to purpose. Yes to adventure. Yes to friendships that will last a lifetime. And yes to making the very most of the moments we’re given.
Again. And again. And again.

The mountains may be behind us…But the friendships, gratitude, perspective, and purpose we found along the way will travel with us forever.

Until the next adventure…
Keep climbing.

Six days. Countless memories. One incredible tram... Team Teal in Peru!

Our team has successfully completed the challenging trek around Ausangate Mountain in Peru. The trail tested every one of us. The high altitude, steep climbs, and rugged terrain brought moments of doubt, humility, and exhaustion—but also reminded us of the incredible strength, determination, and resilience we all possess.

Together, this team proved that when you set your mind to something, there’s very little you can’t accomplish—including making a difference in the fight against ovarian cancer.

The journey isn’t over yet! Next, Team Teal begins the iconic Inca Trail as we make our way to Machu Picchu. Two more days of adventure, purpose, and perseverance await.
