🇵🇭 FROM AGE 11 TO THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE 🇹🇼⛳️

I’m incredibly proud to see Isabella Tabanas representing the Philippines and getting her first taste of professional golf at the Kenda Tire Cup in Taiwan.

Isabella was one of the pioneer students of Activ8 Golf, starting her Strength & Conditioning journey with me at just 11 years old.

Activ8 Golf was created around a simple principle:

Train for the demands of playing golf.

Not just getting stronger for the sake of being stronger, but developing the strength, mobility, stability, coordination and power needed to help a golfer move better, produce force and ultimately perform better on the course.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with some incredibly talented young golfers, including Kiara Montebon and Ally Gaccion, helping them develop their physical qualities alongside their golf development.

Now Isabella is taking the next step, following that pathway into collegiate golf in the USA after committing to Texas A&M University - Kingsville. 🇺🇸

From an 11-year-old girl starting her S&C journey to competing internationally against professionals in Taiwan - it’s been a privilege to be part of the journey.

Would you like to find out what’s slowing your golf swing down?

Want to improve your strength, mobility, stability and power so you can work towards hitting the ball further and straighter?

How can 400 g create a meaningful training stimulus?

Step 1:

Add mass.

More mass means more inertia.

Step 2:

Move that mass farther from the joint.

The same 400 g placed distally creates more rotational inertia than the same 400 g placed proximally.

Step 3:

Accelerate the limb.

If rotational inertia increases and the athlete tries to maintain the same angular acceleration, the rotational demand increases.

Step 4:

Move it fast, because angular velocity is squared.

Now put that into sprinting.

The leg repeatedly:

accelerates → decelerates → reverses → accelerates again

And now put that into base running:

accelerate → enter the curve → redirect → preserve velocity → reaccelerate

That is where wearable resistance becomes interesting.

But physics provides only the hypothesis.

So we did two baseball-specific wearable-resistance intervention manuscripts are coming.

Wearable resistance is not just “adding weight.”

To understand why a few hundred grams can matter, we first need to understand the physics behind the load.

Inertia is resistance to a change in motion.
Add mass, and you increase the demand required to accelerate and decelerate that segment.

But the limbs do not only move linearly — they rotate.

That brings us to rotational inertia:

I=mr^2

The stimulus depends not only on how much mass is added, but also where that mass is placed relative to the axis of rotation.

Move the same load farther from the joint → rotational inertia increases.

Then add movement velocity:

Angular velocity is squared, meaning that faster rotational movement can substantially increase the kinetic energy associated with the loaded segment.

This is where wearable resistance differs from traditional gym-based loading.

Traditional resistance training usually emphasizes:

High mass → lower movement velocity

Wearable resistance can emphasize:

Low mass → strategic placement → high movement velocity

Different tool. Different mechanical emphasis.

The next question is the important one:

Does this mechanical rationale actually translate into better baseball-specific performance?

That is what we tested.

Two wearable-resistance intervention manuscripts are coming.

Stay tuned.

Behind every performance is data that tells the story.

Under the leadership of josephdolcetti , Founder of @lilaathletes , @_limminghong_ and a group of recruited elite athletes underwent a series of performance assessments to better understand their physical capabilities, identify their limits, and uncover areas for further development.

Through structured testing and data analysis, Coach Jo and the Lila Sport team are building a clearer picture of each athlete’s performance, turning insights into more focused development and better preparation for what comes next.

Measure. Analyse. Improve.

Pushing performance beyond the next level.
