Almost done reflecting on the final days at DJLA before we closed down.
Forever grateful for this crew and experience ❤️
To some, it was just a job. To me, it was a chapter that hit different. And we’re still out here bussin! 💯

A restaurant can only succeed if everyone is on the same page in terms of respect, accountability and love 💕
Donna Jean LA had that before we closed. I’m only wishing that it can be found again in another place In another town, not for me but for the future of hospitality and true connection to food service.

It’s been a little while since DJLA unfortunately closed down.
I just wanted to make an appreciation post for the time I spent there.

To be honest it was a damn shame the place wasn’t run well the past years before me or Chef Alistair were there and not to mention the location was very difficult to say the least. But It is what it is… and I do wanna say that right before we closed the doors we FINALLY reached a great place internally. Chef Josem and I just started to turn things around in the kitchen and for once Donna Jean LA had a solid BOH and FOH team where everyone worked in unison and respected and cared for eachother which is very rare to find in the restaurant industry. But I guess that’s why it didn’t last haha

Anyways I wanted to thank everyone who was a part of Donna Jean Sherman oaks till the very end. Staff and customers included. Yall are special to my heart and I will cherish the memories we made there. Also, just remember that under different circumstances and conditions that team we had there could have went all the way to the moon. 🌕

Big thanks to Chef Roy, Leslie and Cole for helping and doing their best. I love yall and goodluck in your future and keep in touch. I appreciate you and thanks for letting me be apart of your journey. Vegan food and Vegan restaurants will always be a notch above the rest🌱 go visit @donnajeanofficial in San Diego and keep them going!💯🙏🏼🍕

END OF AN ERA 🍕

We said goodbye to our Sherman Oaks family last night.. it was an epic last service & our team kept the vibes high all the way to the last ticket.

We will miss you all so much! Absolutely impossible to pick 20 slides for all the memories we made in LA & wonderful people we met, but here’s my best shot.

We hope you will visit us the next time you are in SD.

Thank you for all the love these last 2 weeks, we absolutely felt it. ❤️❤️❤️

Last weekend at Donna Jean La ♥️

I can’t begin to even scratch the surface how much I love these people ! A true family. One moment we would be yelling at each other trying to get through service. The next we would be drunk on wine in each others arms laughing until we cried. They taught me a lot. Thank you Cole , Ellea , Kyla , Bryn , Kim , Jesse Josh , Maria , Matt , Josem , little Joey , big yang for being the best friends I could ever ask for. I love you guys

I’ll have a lot to say soon about last night, but I wanted to begin with thanking all of the folks who came out to support. I have long believed that music is the great equalizer and it was fully on display as we all came together for a cause that means a lot to a lot of people. Thank you to @jaminthevan for letting us do our thing. Here’s to making more music and helping more people.
