Tribute to my Punta Mona Family, who has been there, holding each other through the thick & the hard of the pandemic, turning the soil, planting food, making medicine and regenerating our relationships with others & ourselves. As I shift towards a new adventure, I choose to put myself & my health first with love, tenderness and compassion.

So this one is for anyone who feels a little lost -like I do- right now. Maybe you don't know what your exact path in life is yet. Maybe you left your job or stay because it’s « comfortable » but not exactly what you want. Maybe you're still in school and you've changed your major three times. Maybe you're confused about what it is that you want. Maybe you know exactly what you want but have no idea how to get it.

You will figure it out. You are still breathing. You are going to figure your shit out. I believe in you.

Most of the time the universe speaks to us very quietly in pockets of silence, in coincidences, in nature, in forgotten memories, in the shape of clouds, in moments of solitude, in small tugs at our hearts.

So listen. Take a breath & make a step forward. Dig in a bit deeper.

You'll be put through the same lessons over & over again until you learn them.

And it’s OKAY.

Theses things takes time.

Be conscious, recognize patterns. You won’t grow and things won’t change until you make the effort to do so. The hardest part is to finally say I’m going & mean it.

Trust in it ✨🪐

Community Farm Push: A Morning of Preparing Garden Beds! 🌱

There’s many ways of preparing organic garden beds, these are some of the techniques we use at Punta Mona:

Step 1: Biochar with Fish Emulsion 🔥🌲

Getting down and dirty! We first place a thick layer of our homemade biochar/fish emulsion paste with the soil and give it a nice stir to help the soil store all the nutrients.

Step 2: An Abundant Layer of Compost 🐓

Step 3: The Banana Salad 🍌 🥗

We chop up the banana stalk into little chunks and add a moist layer over the compost! (Sidenote: Did you know the banana plant is an herb?)

Step 4: Dry leaves/ Banana Leaves on the pathways 🍃 🍂

Lets give our beds some shade! We add a final light layer of mulch that will break down slowly so that when we come plant, and everything else has further broken down, we just move the layer of leaves.

Soon we’ll be ready to plant some seed babies & grow some food! 🌶🥒🥬🍅

What are we planting next? 🤔
