📣 ANNOUNCEMENT! Swipe 👉

We are constantly looking for ways to liven up social with good music and dancing 💃🕺

As part of ‘Road to #klsf2023 ’ a series of initiatives to prepare our community for the abundance of fun coming our way, we are so pleased to announce the DJ Battle KL (another concept introduced to us from Bangkok)!

We challenged the DJs - and 8 of them accepted the call! 🔥

Each social in Sept and Oct will feature two DJs going head to head as they attempt to outdo each other in providing you with the best music to dance to! Winners of each draw will move on to the next round until we find the one and true champion.

Not sure how it works? We’re glad you asked!

This Friday, we have a very special treat for you. Our guest DJs - DJ Roman and DJ Sompop will be facing off against each other to show us what the battle is all about. Find out more about them below:

DJ Sompop
Visiting us from Bangkok - @sompopkulapalanont is the co-founder of @jellyrolldanceclub and the manager & show director for the awesome @thestumbling (who will be at #klsf2023). A dancer, performer, DJ extraordinaire - he has also been managing DJs since 2016 and is also the creative mind behind So You Think You Can Jazz and DJ Battle. He also curates band playlists for events (TJO, Yusu Jazz Band, The Stumbling Swingout, etc.)

DJ Roman
Back with us again in KL - @tinpansoul started DJ-ing in 2016 at local parties. After gaining experience through multiple events, he was then the head of DJs in St. Petersburg and was invited to DJ at the biggest events in Russia with various dance music styles such as lindy hop, balboa, blues, salsa, boogie, funk and shag. He values improvisation in a set, and ability to adapt to the dancefloor in real time. Additionally, he creates his set as a narrative with it's full dynamics and variety, including different swing sub-genres.

Quick! Come and join us this Friday. Purchase your tickets at lindyhopkl.peatix.com.

Another amazing class by @foongtastic last night, as he continues to teach the Blues Fundamental series. And throughout the night, our Blues Dancers learned 2 things:

1. The Embrace
2. @that1green_ant doesn't WeFie often enough 🤭

Insanely good night of Blues Dancing at Taman Hati Studio & Cafe, our hearts are filled!! See you all next week!

📢 We have a very special night lined up for you this Friday! The mysterious DJ Rolly will be making a debut followed by DJ Joshy with a special tribute to Louis Armstrong (in commemorating his birthday on 4 Aug). We will also be welcoming Tom & Aurore from Hong Kong who will be teaching workshops over the weekend - as well as some visiting dancers :)

DJ Rolly
Making a debut - DJ Rolly finds curating playlists F-U-N! You can expect the set to be a cheeky, a teensy bit sexy, and a cup of tea. DJ Rolly describes the playlist as being influenced by ‘Nat King Cole meets Benny Goodman distracted by Eva Cassidy’ while having Samara Joy's rendition of ‘Moonglow’ on repeat. Also - “Be nice to animals”.

DJ Joshy
His playlists tend to have a little bit of everything under the swing umbrella and draws from a wide range of influences. He particularly loves the song 'Beginning to See the Light' and Cole Porter's songs. He hopes that his set will all flow smoothly for you and really wants you to know that DJs don't just press the 'play' button on Friday nights.
