Another happy post today as I celebrate Monday morning in the office. Having to step back from Molke in 2024 due to my health was painful, especially as it was followed by Molke's own struggles. Since January I have been pushing myself back into work, gently increasing my working hours whilst also being mindful of pacing myself. It’s a fine balance but a return to work, however that may look, is a huge win for me and I love it! This year, I choose to focus on the small wins, joy, and healing.

Best birthday holiday of the year - always!

A whole week of the best crafty friends, seeing and knitting and chatting and all the birthday cakes. So lovely to get into the groove of making things, to be inspired by everyone else’s makes, to make plans and arrange meeting up…

Will be back to (our) cottage next year god more.

Memories captured in a photo. I love the way a photo can help hold onto memories and the way they can pop up and make you smile. Just a week since we came back from our castle holiday, and it feels like an age ago already!

One of the (very many things) I love about this photo is that we're each wearing at least one handmade item of clothing. In fact I think that Emily, Mica and Jules are handmade from top to toe.

I love having the ability to make my own clothes - being able to choose fabrics/yarns, colour and style, and to wear clothes that fit and express who I am. In the last year or so I have begun to realise that I've lost the expressiveness and individuality which I had in my late teens and early twenties. Maybe work and child rearing were why I forgot to wear what I really like? I fondly remember my grandad's jumper (knit by my grannie) which I wore for several years (and wish I still had), a pair of colourful dungarees, a blue floppy hat, and a knit waistcoat from the men's department. Well, I'm hoping to slowly build back up a wardrobe of clothes which I love.

We’ve only been home a few days and in various ways so much has happened to our little group since then. I’ve got a new very part time job (more on that I’m good time), and then there’s been all sorts of other great/dramatic news between us (that aren’t really my stories to tell). But it seems that being away precipitated all sorts of big life events!

I’m currently living out my absolute dream, staying in a small castle in the highlands with wonderful friends ⭐️ sewing, knitting, contemplating photographing, sleeping, eating other people’s food, walking, foraging… I can’t express just how lucky I feel and how wonderful it is to be with friends. It is THE BEST.

We’ve finally made it back to the castle for 10 glorious days of sewing and knitting and spinning and resting and just luxuriating in the amazing company.

Honestly, this is the balm I need - I’ve been feeling so strung out and on edge recently, and I’m hoping some deep relaxation will help soothe my soul. I can’t believe it’s been so long since we were last here - just need @toxictea to arrive and we’ll all be together again.

Emily @flutterbyknits just posted a photo from this weekend in March, and it set me off in all kinds of longing but also gratitude - for a weekend well spent, just before lockdown, and a fabulous group of friends.

Won't the time, when we can book weekends away, hug family and friends, eat good food squashed round a table full of people - all without considering rules - be special?

Do you have any particular activities or events you're anticipating (I'm wondering if we can better this album cover photo!)? I hope in the meantime, you're managing okay. ❤️
