Here are some pics from the pop up, courtesy of @lihchang! Thank you to everyone who stopped by, and especially for your patience. I did not expect the rush in the first hour, and I wish I had had more time to chat with you all!

After having some time to reflect on the event, I came up with a list of Dos & Don’ts:

•Do obsessively overplan weeks ahead of time so that day of you can rely on the plans you made instead of stressing out
•Do ask two of your best friends to help out because they will go above and beyond and complement your weaknesses with their strengths
•Do ask your computer science teacher friend to ask one of their star pupils to create a point-of-sale app because math is hard
•Don’t keep your bread at child level because some toddler will sneak over and try to take a bite when you’re not looking
•Do use preorders because it’ll help reassure you that people will show up and they are the easiest transactions
•Don’t accidentally sell one of the pre-ordered bento boxes
•Do have a really good friend overhear you panicking about the oversold bento and offer to give up their bento 🄹
•Do make the tea eggs self-serve like at Taiwanese convenience stores so it’s one less thing holding up the line
•Do use the mini Tatungs you bought from @yunhaishop as tip jars!

It’s funny, when I see myself in this picture, the first thing I notice is my bad hair day, but when I changed it to my profile pic on FB, my friends were much kinder than I was to myself.

I usually try not to care too much about what other people think of me, but sometimes maybe it is better to see yourself from a different perspective.

I had a lot of fun creating the dessert menu for our church staff appreciation luncheon this year! I knew the rest of the meal was going to be epic (e.g. lamb lollipops, tuna & avocado on crispy rice, uni butter noodles with wagyu beef, roasted salmon & glazed pork belly ssam bar, wagyu steak with wasabi yuzu butter) so I decided to go with a simple quartet of mignardises that went along with the Asian theme. I wanted each to have a different flavor, color, and texture and be just a couple of bites at most so that everyone would be able to taste them all.

šŸ’› passion fruit mochi bites

Thank you, @imisms78 for inviting me to help out; it was so fun to cook with you, @rayyoung02, @timming_, and Zeb. And thanks @jmsl27 and @lizpark712 for hosting! Lastly, thank you to the staff at Highrock for all the ways you love and care for us year round. Swipe to see some candid shots from the event (šŸ“·: @abigailrice1 and @sassy_jo_boston)!

Threw a birthday party for my friend @amyeye this past weekend where the theme was a ā€œFree Fromā€ episode of Great British Bake Off since she can’t have any dairy.

For the ā€œSignature Challengeā€ we asked people to make or buy something that would be appropriate for an afternoon tea. I made these radish rose tea sandwiches (inspired by @ohhowcivilized) with just some white bread, plant butter, radishes, and salt. It’s kind of hard to see, but there is a slice of radish sandwiched between 2 rounds of bread.

For the ā€œTechnical Challengeā€ we kind of mixed it up and each wrote a memory with the birthday girl and had her try to figure out which one of us wrote it.

Lastly, for the ā€œShowstopper Challengeā€ we each decorated a Chinese sponge cupcake (the birthday girl’s favorite type of cake). Swipe to see some of the results!

P.S. If you’re looking for a children’s book to gift this holiday season, may I recommend Amy’s @the.polkadottedpenguin? It’s a wonderful book about differences and inclusion featuring the cutest penguin! 🐧

Iceland day 5 photo dump

1 & 8 - The newly opened @skylagooniceland, very close to downtown Reykjavik and will leave your skin & hair feeling silky smooth, especially if you partake in the 7-step Ritual (as compared to the crunchy hair you get from the Blue Lagoon)
2 - Harpa, the opera house, all decked out for Pride Week
3 - Laugavegur, the main shopping/pedestrian street
4 - Pastries from @braudogco 🤤
5 - Inside Hallgrimskirkja, the iconic church
6 - Another rainbow painted street in downtown Reykjavik
7 - The famous Icelandic hot dogs at Baejarins Beztu (made with lamb and beef and topped with brown mustard, remoulade, raw onions, and crunchy fried onions)
9 - @simplyome and @lihchang are obsessed with Costco and demanded we stop at the only in in Iceland šŸ˜†
10 - We didn’t realize that the eruption had started up again until we were already at the airport, so the only shot I have of it is during take off where you can see the smoke.

Goodbye, Iceland! You know it’s a magical place when you’ve gone 3 times and can’t wait to go back again. And thanks to @simplyome and @lihchang for being great travel buddies and letting me use their photos (and sometimes their phones) after I lost mine on day 1.

3 & 4 - Puffins at Dyrhólaey
6 - Back at Skogafoss and about to climb those stairs šŸ˜…
7 - Waterfall along the Fimmvorduhals trail at the top of Skogafoss
8 - Late lunch at Gamla fjósið, a farmhouse restaurant specializing in beef from their livestock
9 - Floating in the @secretlagoon
10 - Super cute honor system farmstand selling fresh produce and baked goods close to our AirBnB in Reykholt

1, 8, & 9 - Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon (my 3rd time here and still one of my favorite places on earth)
2 - @skool_beans for breakfast (sad to have missed out on meeting @sirjeffarious but I left him some treats!)
3 - Gígjagjá aka the Yoda Cave (it was my first time here and luckily no one else was there when we were!)
4 - Fjaưrárgljúfur (still don’t know how to pronounce this canyon but it’s so pretty!)
5 - Foss á Síðu (one of my favorite waterfalls because of the horsies that greet you in front of it)
6 - Fjallsárlón glacial lagoon (to whet our appetite)
7 - Lobster rolls from the @local_langoustine food truck featuring langoustines topped with remoulade and crunchy fried onions!
10 - Arctic char for dinner at @kjarrrestaurant (excellent food and service, highly recommended!) after a dip in the Kirkjubaejarjlaustur swimming pool
