A few good new Chinese places have opened in the Delmar Loop over the past year (and a few to come), and malatang at MOVOC was brilliant.

Go in, grab a bowl, choose what you want to eat from a refrigerator packed with fresh ingredients, choose your broth (the spicier the better), they cook it for you and bring it to your table. Free rice, too. Doesn't hurt to add a little of the chili oil/crisp to your broth for some extra kick.

Fountain on Locust, a very pretty restaurant in St.Louis🤩very art deco, loved all the decorations! They are famous for their Dill Pickle Potato Soup, Ice Cream Martinis, the world’s smallest ice cream for 1.5 usd and the world’s smallest sundae😁Jess&I had a whole day in St.Louis to ourselves, I think we did in that day what other people do in a week😁Then we headed to The Sheldon Galleries, where they had mini golf and each hole was designed by different people, some by artists, some by kids, it was super fun!😁Checked out Crown Candy, one of the oldest establishments in St.Louis, with the oldest soda fountain🥤 tried my first salt water taffy, not bad at all😋Then we made it to the City Museum, I don’t believe it’s possible to explain to people what this City Museum is, unless you visit it, it’s a 10 story building, a child of two architects, who wanted to create a super fun and a bit educational space😁it’s full of mosaics, has a tunnel system, that goes between 5 floors, a 10 story slide, largest pencil in the world, a school bus on the roof, aquarium, circus, workshops, pinball machine hall and more!🤯Venice bar is another personal collection that got out of hand, the place is so full of everything, sprinkled with some tiny little jokes here and there😁 Bands were about to perform live, so we decided to stay “just for a couple songs”.
In the end, we were out at midnight and looking for smth to eat, because we didn’t eat anything since lunchtime! And I don’t know if it was the 12 hours without food or what, but Imo’s St.Louis style pizza made with St.Louis cheese Provel, might’ve been the best pizza I have ever eaten in my life! This was the crispiest pizza ever and I think that’s what I appreciate in pizza from now on, no soggy dough, I want it crispy!🍕

@jrapppp and me went to Katz’s Deli @katzsdeli and I 100% get the hype, very well deserved! It’s the best pastrami sandwich, the pastrami is cut in front of you, while it’s still steaming hot!🤤the ordering system is a bit confusing, when you order, you are given a ticket, sandwiches, drinks, desserts are ordered at a different station and they all write on the ticket, also there isn’t really a clear menu, we resorted to a good system of ordering the same as “that guy”😁oh and the pickles, I regret not getting more, cause they were perfect as well! And we had a glass of Egg Cream, a New York invented drink, these days it’s mostly full fat vanilla milk or chocolate milk with soda, that I wasn’t a fan of😁

Highlights of a beautiful weekend in Chicago, including revisiting @laopengyouchi for cold noodles, wood ear mushrooms and flaky Xi'an bing, pork belly adobo, lonngganisa and more for brunch at @kasamachicago, a lovely dinner at @daisieschicago, drinks at @threedotsandadash and @brokenshaker at @freehandhotels ... Not included, stops at @wallys in both directions and about 20 coffees at @eatalychicago #

Have you been to the Bagel Station, the little bagel/bread shop in Shaw run by the @bagelstl and @loafersstl people? During the week they sell bagels and maybe some Loafers bread, as well as cookies, soda and nice ceramics (including work created by members of their team), but every Sunday they offer a different sandwich: today it was bacon, yolky egg, cheese and thick tomato slices on an English muffin. The @fiddleheadferncafe trailer parked in the lot offers a limited selection of coffee, cold brew and cold brew lattes. Just what we needed at the end of a long, fun week.

This isn't everything we tried on day 1 of @festofnations 2024 in @towergrovepark - we were out there for the full day - but it's a good sampling. Highlights were empanadas from @tangoargentinafood in St. Charles, mango meatball curry from @sameemafghanrestaurant, mozzarella-stuffed plantains from @la_colombianitallc, tea leaf salad from the Burmese stall, all the Puerto Rican food, and tacos from @el_molino_stl.

Great music and performances too throughout the day from @redandblackbrassband, @groovewithdjk, @beyondmeasuredancetheater, @liliustatler, Murphy Lee and others. If you're going for day 2, look out for @jamielittlefire flying the flag for Scottish music!

Festival of Nations is genuinely one of STL's best events. When we first moved here in 2018, it was one of the things that made us feel excited and confident about being here. Does every US city have something like this? I don't know, but it's something very special we have here and I'm impressed by the way the @iistl and other organizers have scaled up the festival in terms of ambition, from branding to programming, while remaining a true community-centric event. It's St. Louis at its best.
