🎋 SOUND REPORT · BAMBOO 📍 Parque Zamora, Veracruz, México.

#fieldrecording #boomoperator #sonidista #sound #mexic

Working with someone takes trust. It takes courage. And it requires there to be a resonance. A calling. A desire to inhabit their world. So. Here is a flavour of the world humans share with me. In all forms. And my love of sound. And, some beautiful words from my teacher, mentor, guide, coach and comrade - the formidable @es.smythe “Having served as Suzi’s mentor throughout her training at the Alchemy of Being Maturation Coaching Training Academy during the 2024–2025 year, and as her coach for more than two years, it has been an honour to witness her growth and evolution into a deeply skilled practitioner in the field of human maturation. Suzi brings an authentic and grounded presence to her work, coupled with a remarkable depth of listening. Together, these qualities create a space in which her clients are able to access places within the bodymind that may have been calling for attention and healing for a lifetime. She is a skilled and dedicated coach who brings integrity, compassion, and courage to her practice. She understands the transformative power of radical honesty and has a genuine capacity to meet people with both tenderness and depth, creating the conditions for meaningful change, greater freedom, and new possibility.” Emily Smythe, MSt Maturation Coach, Meditation Instructor & Apprentice in the Shipibo Healing Tradition Are you ready to play? #deeplistening #eachoneteachone #bodymindmaturation #feelingsound #playingwithsound

Our theme for the 2027 trip is sensing liminality - focusing on how we can re-evaluate the limits of our experience of spaces and situations that we often consider to be between others. By shifting our attention, alongside developments in both technology and approaches to situated listening, new possibilities push the borders of our perception, and in turn our connection to place. For the 2027 trip we're also venturing to a new location in the remarkable landscape of the Bràghaid Albann region of Scotland. Our trips build communities of listeners in a flexible week together. I’m in the Hebrides at the moment and it reminded me of all the amazing field recordings I did year a couple of years ago, so I made this reel to capture some of my favourites - for the era of the goldfish 🎏 I have used lots of great equipment so have tagged the suppliers in case you want to get in touch with them. @jrfmicrophones by @jezrileyfrench are brilliant. His hydrophones are super sensitive, perfect for sub-aquatic sounds and very reasonably priced. I won my @lom.label Basic Ucho Mics from @sound_awards for my listening desk. They’re a matched pair and create this very clear, spacious and full sound, with depth. The EM272 clippy mics were recommended by @rehuxley and when worn in this way you capture a super clear and detailed stereo image. It’s quite magical, connecting your recording to your physical body. The parabolic mic by @parabolicmike is brilliant for capturing things at a distance. I was originally lent one from Dan at @schoolofnoise and had to get one. And of course, for a quick pocket-sized recorder, I love my Zoom F5 by @zoomunitedkingdom. And my mix pre by @sounddevices is incredible, particularly for hydrophone recordings and more delicate sounds. Anyway, I love field recording. That is all. #fieldrecording #soundartist #creativeprocess #soundrecording #womeninsound
