Another NYC-ritual-solo-trip 🤠

This post took a while bc of creative block, indecision, and bc I was sucked back into night shift. I knew I wanted to make my post into an "art-print-vending-machine" style once I saw one inside Panaderya Salvaje. I made the cover photo with @adobeexpress shapes, and I was stuck on the background until I tried adding the photos I took of the mosaic tiles in the Brooklyn Museum Station. I'm glad I tried that bc the tiles added so much character.

And tbh, I didn't take much videos bc I wanted to practice with my Fuji camera (and bringing 2 cameras is just overkill). And my phone is super low on storage. 😭 So I had to be strategic.

The start of this trip was kinda crazy bc, no joke, I did not pack until THE DAY OF my flight. And I worked the night before. Thankfully, I pulled it off, packaged the outfits safely into 1 carry-on, and made it to the gate just as they were boarding.

I know this trip was centered on NYFW with the Michael Cinco and Veejay Floresca shows, but I also aimed to visit as many 🇵🇭-owned spots as I could this time. But, I wasn't able to check every single one off the list. Hopefully, I'll get to visit Hoy!, Next Door Provisions, 87 Ludlow, Little Chef Little Cafe, Fern & Aurora, and etc. someday!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your hospitality, company, and time. This trip was very memorable (esp. how sore my feet were bc I brought Birks that were not broken-in). ❤️❤️❤️❤️

My first proper meal of the day 😵 @swabefoodtruck

After clocking out from night shift, I went straight to pack and did not have time to eat. When I got to JFK, I was canvassing spots on where I should eat and sat there for a good minute to kind of gather myself bc I barely had any sleep and was super hungry (starting to feel lightheaded too). I knew it wasn't a good idea to board the AirTrain right away in that state, so I had some Dunkin Donuts (a breakfast bagel and a matcha latte w/ tiramisu foam). That energized me a little, but I was still hungry when I got to my hotel in LIC.

I had them saved since last year, and I was so excited because I was finally going. They were only 3 or 4 stops away, so it wasn't that bad. Deciding on Swabe

Usually, it’s someone who gives you butterflies. In New York, it might be a bowl of sisig.🇵🇭✨

Savory sisig over rice, loaded with crunchy toppings that make each bite even better. Add lumpiang shanghai for the sisig combo, make room for siomai, and finish with turon with UBE filling. That dessert deserves its own moment.✨

Even the drink joins the Filipino food trip: bottled “Magic Water” with gulaman-style jelly inside. From the main dish to the snacks, dessert, and drink—a whole lot of home.

Behind it all are Bong and Janina. During the pandemic, she kept ordering his sisig. Today, she’s his business partner.

For some, it tastes like home. For others, it could be their first taste of Filipino food.🇵🇭🤍

Dinner with photographer friends means the mini burgers get their own lighting crew.😂📸

But my favorite at Cafe Chili? The Mango Butterfly Pea Sticky Rice Ice Cream Sundae ($11.95). So good, I’d come back just for that.

Cozy back patio, good company and yes, we ordered more food. Four people did not survive on three mini burgers.🤣

Directing @veejayfloresca’s Spring/Summer 2027 presentation during the New York Fashion Week, presented by @cfda , was one of those moments that remind me why I love what I do.

Veejay, thank you for trusting me with your vision and giving me the room to direct it.

@bessiebesana, thank you for reaching out and making that clutch introduction that brought me into this project. Sometimes one phone call really does change the course of a week, and ultimately a career.

@ivxnrey, my production support, assistant director, problem-solver, and, to date, my absolute favorite NYC local. Thank you for being there through every moving piece and making the madness feel manageable.

@raine.panes, thank you for being the kind of production manager every director dreams of working with. Your calm, precision, and ability to make things happen did not go unnoticed.

And to every photographer, videographer, stylist, glam team member, model, designer, backstage hand, and production crew who helped bring this presentation to life, endless thank yous for y’all. A show is never the work of one person. It takes an entire team of people believing in the vision and executing it together.
