The signal is clear: insist too loudly on Palestinian humanity and your place in Jewish communal life can become conditional.

Thank you @jstreetdotorg for hosting @israelisforpeacenyc Tamar and me. And thank you, @amifieldsmeyer for your truly excellent and inspiring book about fighting the rise of authoritarianism.

Still processing the Oct 7th vigil. It was extremely intense and inspiring. Proud that we insisted on holding a vigil and honor the deep pain and struggle of both people. While being shouted at with venom and hate on an extremely painful day for our community and people.

Beyond all the noise, media coverage, commentators, influencers, and the endless pro and anti sides, we believe that peace and an end to the killing can bring about a better future for all Israelis and Palestinians from the river to the sea who are paying such an unbearable price. That we must stop the crimes. That we can work across difference. We can mourn together, resist together and fight for democracy, safety, equality and freedom for all of us. Not denial of each other’s humanity and pain. Not in support/justification/minimization of killing children.

And America must lead. I spoke about the leadership of our friend the next member of congress Brad Lander and senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed who believe we need big coalitions to fight for American democracy. That there is a way for Jews and Muslim and all Americans to work together in this critical moment for our democracy. That our freedom depends on us being able to do it. Not walking away from each other. It’s true in America and in
Israel/Palestine.

That another way is possible…

Hamas just debunked Hamas.

Their own 2025 numbers: Most deaths were war deaths, and the spike is military-age men.

That is a war. It is not a genocide.

I already broke this down in the Gaza GenoLie series earlier this summer @jewishonliner

Go watch it. Then argue with the chart.

Starting strong in Brooklyn! 🇮🇱

A big shoutout to our Brooklyn Shaliach, Yuval Linden, on his first event of the year!
As Israel heads toward upcoming elections, Yuval sat down with Israeli politics expert Ken Bob for a conversation about the political landscape, the candidates, the key issues, and what may lie ahead.

Thank you to everyone who joined, and to the wonderful partners who helped make the evening happen: Kane Street Synagogue, J Street, and Brooklyn Heights Synagogue.

“Your brother’s blood calls out from the ground” (Genesis 4:10)

When Prime Minister Netanyahu comes to NYC, American Jews and Israeli Americans will be there to send a clear message: You have blood on your hands, and you are not welcome in our city.

Netanyahu ignored the warnings before October 7, abandoned the hostages, and has overseen the destruction of Gaza and the deaths of tens of thousands of people. He and his government bears responsibility for the terror of settler militias, forced expulsions, home demolitions, and settlement expansion in the West Bank. He enabled the funding of Hamas, diverted resources from the Gaza envelope to serve the settler agenda, and has pursued a forever war that produces only more death and destruction.

We are here to say: this must stop. We call for an immediate, permanent end to the war, real accountability for those responsible for war crimes, and a future of justice and peace for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
