Free Tie Sundays are BACK!

Join us and Thad Stewart of Northwest CT Trout Unlimited as he guides you through these two incredible patterns. Keiron Jenkins "KJ" jig nymph and Gary Lafontane's Natural Drift Stonefly.

As always, anyone that ties with us receives 10% off store wide (with a couple exceptions) for the day. We feature @fulling_mill materials as much as possible with our Sunday sessions. They are taking the market by storm with their new material!

This week is great for NEW tyers to get some experience on different techniques you can apply to lots of patterns!

What a great morning with Northwest CT Trout Unlimited. Code cracker for the day was a drab jig streamer popped under a float. Sometimes you gotta think outside the box!

One of the best chapters in the state, NWTU put out a great spread and some awesome camaraderie. If you fish or live in the NW corner, head to one of there meetings or events.

We’ve finally received some much needed rains. With that, Farmington River flows have crested into the 600cfs range, making this a great time to fish streamers! We have a ton of local favorite patterns from Rich Strolis in stock ready for this moment! Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or need advice on how to target trout on streamers, we’ve got you covered!

Joey gives a breakdown on some shop favorites, as well as a quick tip on tippet choice/rigging for these flies.

Joey made the magic happen with these two very shallow feeding fish right at sunset. Still no bowfin, unfortunately! It can be remarkable just how willing carp are when the conditions are all to their liking, and by proxy just how UNwilling the bowfin can be even when it all seems right!

Joey wanted bowfin. I wanted bowfin. This carp wanted the fly. So did a bowfin, later on, but it should be evident how that went... carp are easier than bowfin after all. 😉

This quality Farmington brown was fooled on DK’s UV Olive Nymph, now available at Farmington Flies.

You may notice we’ve had to make some price increases due to the rising cost of tungsten. We plan to continue tying our flies with true tungsten beads rather than switching to alternative bead materials.

Thanks for the continued support!
