One photo can open a door. But sometimes you have to be the one to walk through it. 📸

McKellar Proffitt shares how a photo he took of Colten Mertens caught the attention of Frog Grips. Instead of stopping at letting them use the shot, he asked if they needed any photographers on the East coast.

That simple question led to even more opportunities.

A reminder to all the creators out there: your work can get you noticed, but don't be afraid to ask for what comes next.

Sometimes the things that change your life are the ones you never saw coming.

Years after losing his wife, McKellar Proffitt picked up her camera and decided to give photography a try. What started as something she loved became a passion he never expected to find for himself.

A reminder that creativity can find us in unexpected ways, and sometimes the things we leave behind continue to inspire the people we love.

Making sure your kid is fed, happy, and taken care of… only to realize you haven't eaten a single thing yourself. 😂

JT takes a quick break from talking all things creative to vent about the realities of parenting. Because apparently making sure everyone else eats is a full-time job.

Just a little dad life mixed into your regularly scheduled creator conversations. 🎙️

Sometimes your next opportunity is just one conversation away.

When McKellar Proffitt found out his mom's local newspaper might need someone behind the camera, he asked a simple question that opened the door to trying something new.

Not every opportunity comes from a big client, a perfect portfolio, or a carefully planned career move. Sometimes it starts with being curious, asking questions, and being willing to give something a shot.

Ever look at another creator’s shot and think, “How did they KNOW to be there?!”

McKellar Proffitt talks about those unpredictable moments that somehow get captured perfectly. Is it luck, experience, or just knowing where to put yourself when the action happens?

Sometimes being in the right place at the right time is a skill of its own.

You get into a rhythm of only putting out bangers. But what about the shots that don't make the cut? 📸

As photographers and filmmakers, we're our own toughest critics. We're looking at lighting, composition, sharpness, and whether a shot is good enough to share.

But Ricardo Barbosa shares a moment when someone told him one of his photos was the best photo they'd ever had of themselves.

A reminder that we're not always seeing our work through the same lens as the people we're capturing.

What you consider an average shot might be a moment someone remembers forever.

Imagine showing up to work with people you can't even have a conversation with. 🌍

For Ricardo Barbosa, working with fellow creators in Turkey meant navigating a language barrier. He didn't speak Turkish, and two of his partners didn't speak English.

But what stood out wasn't the language barrier. It was how welcoming the European creator community was and how quickly he realized that, no matter where you're from, creators face many of the same challenges.

Different languages, different backgrounds, but a shared understanding of what it takes to do this work.

Plot twist: The cutest moment of the podcast had nothing to do with photography. 🥹

JT introducing his little one to Ricardo might just be our favorite moment of the episode.

The conversations are great, but sometimes it's the moments in between that steal the show. ❤️

You don’t have to copy someone’s work to learn from it.

Photographer and videographer Ricardo Barbosa @cfprs talks about paying attention to other creators, taking little lessons from what they do, and using those pieces to keep developing your own style.

There’s something to learn from everyone if you’re willing to look.
