#Takeover / @jude_rae
The sublime stillness within Jude Raes wonderful paintings always stop me in my tracks. These works depicting every day life and objects are masterfully observed and placed in relationship to and with each other. The brush marks and compositions are elements to loose yourself in.

THE PANGO ROOM.

You may have noticed that our rooms are all named after colours, in Te Reo Maori (the Maori language) - Mawhero (pink), Kakariki (green), Kikorangi (blue) and Pango (black).

The reason for this is simple really - when we were renovating, we were also learning Te Reo - and once painted we started referring to the rooms by their colours, hence - Te Reo colours.

The Pango room is differentiated by the fantastic salon style hang artwork on the wall facing the bed. We think this is a beautiful way to showcase artwork, and we love the stark and bold contrast of the black and white of these pieces.

A huge thank you goes to Rob Bratton and Jamie Chapman from Picture Hanging Specialists in Auckland for the hang, both artists in their own rights.

The art pieces in this room were either collected or gifted to us over the years. Artists include Dick Frizzell, Jude Rae, Mallory Allen, Sam Farquhar, Bev Christian (UK), Sue Hillary, Dan Hillier (UK) & Flox amongst others.

This room is the perfect place to rest & recharge.

Book via the link in our bio.

☆ Currently at @thecommercial you’ll find @jude_rae’s painterly vision of what’s worthy of paying attention to. There is truth, time, history and patience in these substantial works. A density to the stillness that brings about an awareness. They’re totally engaging. ⁣Again.
