Wish you could have been at the Belfast launch and thanks for coming if you were there 🙏🏻Poems, songs & reclaiming days in that week felt good …

… from the long painting-covered room subliminally brickwalling it looking towards outside & a hot summer’s night …

… Michael O’Neill the wonderful painter, who along with Jude Sharvin are Arthouse the publishers, waxed very lyrical on the theme of Six String Street …

… Sebi phoned in regarding the title of Written to be Read Quickly …

… the signing place was a holy alcove indeed … thanks Aobh Sharvin for aesthetic amazingness & Melanie from the Harrison for inviting us in and telling the story of the building …

… Kittie O’Neill for the beautiful photos and actual real photography focus …

… and Sebi White for designing the softback & the hardback. Michael suggested the hardback & here it is. I have read books longer than I have consciously listened to records & seeing/feeling the hardback in my hands at the Arthouse office in Ormeau Avenue felt like the first EP years ago at Stiff Records deep in the Island Records building, London W6. Something else! ❤️always & see you before you know it … more pics tomorrow … ✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the first Basedot Creative Session.

What started as an idea to bring people together turned into a room full of conversation, curiosity and shared perspective. Exactly what we hoped for.

These sessions are about more than finished work. They’re about process, ideas and the decisions that shape what we see.

A big thank you to @matjaztancic for an inspiring talk!

This is just the beginning.

More to come.

Some week… Watched in horror as Belfast showed its worst side; my fantastic PhD student Dr Niamh Callaghan passed her viva with no corrections (pictured with myself and Dr Noreen Giffney, two very proud supervisors); a huge thank you to the brilliant @lizajthompson and all who came to my book talk @bx_gallery, it sparked some powerful conversations and I’m very grateful; my fab friends @armchairandrocket showed their new film; heard a tree creeper thanks to @karen_crennell and the Merlin bird app; Belfast showed its true spirit in a colossal rally against racism, and the sun finally came out

Pic 3 @dynamitedoherty 🙏

Outside the finest cinema in the land* following some VHS shenanigans. Toploader or wired remote, there was no judgement.

Listen to SAY YES TO VHS, a podcast by @bhmbelfast & @can_i_borrow_a_feeling (you know where to find these things).

* Please vote for @qftbelfast in the BIFA Cinema of the Year Award (link in bio). Thank you.

We’re thrilled with the response ‘C’est Moi dans la Poubelle’ has been receiving so far. This 10 minute single-take short film screened at Beckett:Unbound in Liverpool last week, screens this week in Paris (in the beautiful and ancient library of the Centre Culturel Irlandais), and has been selected for the Bloomsday Film Festival in Dublin later this month. For screening details search Beckett:Unbound and @bloomsdayfilmfestival

Thanks to all cast and crew who made this film possible; a dramatisation of the visit of Samuel Beckett to Ezra Pound in his Venice apartment in the early 1970s. A film in which nothing happens… but only once.

This day last year we were ‘sale agreed’ on our house but hadn’t found a house to buy, we had two tiny kittens that were my daily saving grace, I was in the middle of an advanced barbering course and hopeful for the future but with zero expectations of what the year might bring - and zero bookings in my wee freelancers diary! What a busy wee year it turned out to be!

Work wise it was one of the most enjoyable years to date - going to work was a joy, working with great people, feeling supported, ready to learn more, keen to share skills and keep adding to my skill set. January kicked off with the launch of @nibeautyexcellenceawards - judging for a third year!

Then followed a Feature Film, a TV series, a BFI Short Film and few ‘dailies’ on great productions, plus lots of commercials and turning up with my Mary Poppins kit bag to luxury hotel locations for mens grooming to full hair & makeups - what a fab year!!

A huge thank you to the producers and designers who trusted me with their hair & makeup looks - and all the lovely folk who sat in my chair - you were a wee dream!

2023 credits

Hair & Makeup Designer on Housejackers for Poli Productions and ‘In Heat’ BFI short with Director Rory Fleck Byrne.

Hair & Makeup Artist on Hope Street Series 3 for Hair & Makeup Designer Shelley Blair for Longstory TV.

Hair & Makeup Artist for One Young World conference key speakers, Rupi Kaur, Nazanine Boniardi and Aidan Gallagher.

Commercials - Knowledge Express & ‘one continuous take’ commercial for DfE Vocational Qualifications with Armchair & Rocket
Galgorm & Sofatime for The Hype Factory.
JD Sports.
BBC NI & RTE sport.
Visit Belfast for Mammoth.

So if you’re not sure of what 2024 will bring - hold your vision! It will all be worth it worth it worth it 🙏🏻✨✨✨

This time 3 years ago we were delaying production of Back in Five because of Covid19. When we finally got to shoot later in the year it meant social distancing cast on set, split-screen takes with actors masked alternately and giving the Menagerie Bar the deepest clean it had ever received.

Thanks to everyone who helped us get there and deliver this award winning short whilst in 42 layers of PPE.
