It was important to me to be able to somehow honor the extraordinary efforts the monks are making with @walkforpeace.usa. I simply wanted to bear witness. So we (@daveinraleigh) and I woke up early, brought some fruit, made a sign to say thank you, and met some new friends on the side of the road this morning. It was as special as I expected it to be. ☮️

🚀 Saxapahaw Forward isn’t just about traffic—it’s about bringing people together.

What started in 2010 as a push for safer streets has grown into a community-driven nonprofit working to keep Saxapahaw the special place we all love. 🌿💛 Led by our dedicated board and founding members (pictured here), we’re here to support our neighbors, protect our natural spaces, and create welcoming places for everyone to connect.

We’re not a homeowner’s association or a traffic committee—we’re a group of neighbors working to keep our village vibrant, livable, and uniquely Saxapahaw.

I’m excited to announce that my song “Black Crow Calling” is out now, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share it with all of you! Link in my bio.

This is a song of remembrance, of trust in following one’s intuition while striving to live in our most authentic truth. It emerged during a time of deep introspection and great transformation. I love that it is the first track to be recorded for my upcoming debut album!

Your support in spreading my music far and wide by sharing it with your friends and on social media would mean the world to me. If you’d like to further contribute to my album project, I’ve set up a GoFundMe page to help cover some of the recording expenses. Link is in my bio. Thank you immensely! 🪶🖤✨

So much fun celebrating the marvelous @judith.a.brooks whose phenomenal book, Deeper into the Garden, helps us find rest and restoration. Meditation practices, flower essences, berry syrups, and more recipes for self-care while connecting with plants. What a gift!🍃💜🍃 And we could not have had a more lovely haven and hosting than the welcoming abode of Katherine and Stephen, my beloved parents. 💖 Judith’s book is available anywhere books are sold.📚🍃📚

“ Being in nature, touching, smelling and sitting with plants calms and restores our mind and spirit. That we respond to this healing presence of plants is not surprising. That the plants respond to our attention by slowly revealing themselves is the simple miracle we want to share.”

Judith Brooks @judith.a.brooks resides in Saxapahaw, North Carolina and is an acupuncturist, herbalist and educator. She has worked with healers from many different traditions and is an advocate for environmental awareness and plant conservation. Paulette Millichap has published books on indigenous wisdom and nature.
