Book binders ~ among one thousand falling pistachio leaves.

The premiere workshop in Amber came to its existence in our new born studio, while the moon grew spherical and whiter for every second over our heads.

With teachers carrying massive bags from Berlin filled with stitched artist books designed by @dienachtpublishing, together with artist and photographer @patriciamorosan - this 6 days experience transformed The Amber Houses to a village of experimentations and undressed ideas. A birthing of photo books, poetry rituals in the morning ocean and late dinners in the underground chamber - the Cave.
Needles, archived dreams, stalking wedding photos and documentations of old Greek men who were sent to exile during the Greek junta - filled the tables and floors all over the 3 hectares of Amber.
Patricia putting spells of time on handmade paper, colouring our world to Sepia through Cardamom tea.

People arrived with wonder and left with heads up high in the sky - holding tiny books filled with quiet pride.

Thank you, all of you, for letting us experiencing the metamorphosis from an idea to a finished book, for making us transform the Cave kitchen to a Taverna with my sister Patricia and for sharing this very beautiful time together in @theamberhouses

A seed dedicated for new projects and tales is sprouting in the ground.
Let the dance of creation start.

WORK IN PROGRESS

Judith Weber @judithweber is a German photographer based in Berlin. Weber is an accomplished portrait photographer and during the @werkstattberlinfoto program she explored the notion of essence in the portrait and the difficulties of penetrating the surface of the sitter. This series is of Ana, photographed in one afternoon. A depiction of reality in fragments rather than a single image.

She explains:

Can a single portrait capture the essence of a person? When I first began to engage more seriously with photography, this was indeed my goal—a goal that now seems rather naive to me. Nevertheless, what still interests me about portraiture is the inner life of a person more than their outer appearance (the surface). Essentially, it is these "inner truths" that I try to capture in my images. Traits of character. States of mind. But also something that transcends the individual and points to something universal, something fundamentally human. Space and time play a subordinate role here, as the experience of basic human emotions is common to all of us and is not bound by place or time.

Applications for the 2025 program now open. Link in bio
