Happy 5 year anniversary to Bad News, my first single from my first solo album with @easyeyesound. Written in the midst of the pandemic, stuck in a freezing apartment in Brooklyn. The clanging of the radiator in there was so loud I used to think someone was breaking in. The video was the product of a shoestring budget, not being able to film indoors bc of COVID safety, and a skeleton crew of myself, @juliabarrettmitchell directing/filming and @nicolejavannajohnson tearing it up with the dancing.

The song is a result of what felt like endless bleak headlines, but with a sense that things could change if we listened to the warning signs. The alarms seem to only be ringing louder these days. At what point do we heed the call?

Absolutely obsessed with this red ambrotype of @juliabarrettmitchell. Love everything we created with her and her sweetie this past Sunday. The red glass was big winner for me though. I made my first image on red glass that I'm super excited about! That's pretty cool. Thank you for being fantastic models @juliabarrettmitchell and @franklincreech. 💞

stay moist is TWO YEARS OLD TODAY💧
this record taught me so much and im eternally grateful for all the people it connected me to, all the hearts it reached, and all the stages, barbershops & sex shops it led me to. ‘stay moist’ came from feeling super disregulated in my body and snapping snotty selfies of myself with the caption ‘stay moist’ which ultimately became my mantra for how to find regulation and equanimity in this body and world. A 5 song EP, each track so sonically different from the next, shamelessly amplifying a part-self that otherwise held so much shame. I hope this record inspires you to talk to your own wise and gnarly part-selves and carve out time and space to feel and move thru the whole gamut.

give it a spin today, twist it, bop it & share it with a friend en route to a body of water, & well, stay moist ~

to be continued oh so soon,
somethin good’s comin’

LOVE,
beccs

eternal thanks to @godfreyyy for co-prod w/such deep listening n care @youdontknowjack__ for mixing, voc prod & beyond @thebiggmac for all the love n co-conspiring & every single collaborator behind every song, sound n visual.

3,337 artists applied to the inaugural Bobby Anspach Foundation grant program.

Before we introduce this year’s grantees, Bobby’s parents and Foundation founders, Jane and Bob Anspach, wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who took the time to apply and share their work with us.

The response was overwhelming. As Bob reflects in this video, seeing so many artists engaging with ideas that Bobby cared deeply about gave him hope for what is yet to come.

Grantees will be announced soon.

Excerpts produced and directed by @betterthanbadfilms and @juliabarrettmitchell.

What happens when you hand strangers spicy fiction at a bar? This. 😏

We asked folks to read the best stories we know. They delivered. Including NYT bestselling author @authorjenniferprobst (can you spot her? 👀)

This is what Bothered stories looks like in the wild—and we’re just getting started.

Here’s the stories that had everyone flustered: 📖The Haunting of Room 501 by @angelinamlo 📖 I’m Not Touching You by @sylviabarrywrites 📖Kiss of the Kraken & How to Tame a Wolf by @philip_webb_gregg 📖 Night Shift by Ezra Klein
