The Chicken Picnic! Thanks to @cleodowntown, it's easy. Chef @juliana_intesar brines the chickens with Lebanese baharat (a seven-spice blend) and finishes it with citrus butter. The skin is brown & textured; the meat is rich & juicy. Dip it in spicy harissa or herbaceous zhug or creamy labneh ranch.

The sides are a critical part:
- Soft cornbread with harissa honey butter
- The Cleo salad
- Crunchy Red cabbage slaw
- Potato salad with plenty of dill
You need the whole kit, because the textures and flavor exchanges are fun. Also, you need the soft serve (as an appetizer, if you're traveling to this picnic).

@____halley____ & @kipgleize are the visionaries behind Cleo and its to-go window. They opened it all this year, to join their successul lineup of @margotbrooklyn and @montaguediner. This is a team to keep watching: they understand this hard business.

We love picnics. This is the right way to set one up. We're fans!

Word on the street is @cleodowntown is THE rotisserie chicken restaurant. IYKYK. 🍗 But did you know their sides are also top notch (shout out the corn ribs) and the service is actually 10/10 impeccable?

Dropping tomorrow, a candid interview with Cleo's very own culinary director @juliana_intesar.

People have been saying this is NYC’s newest best rotisserie chicken- so I wanted to try it for myself

Made a quick reservation on a whim for Tuesday at 5pm ( I got lucky, it was the only one open) and devoured half a chicken LMAOO - 7 spiced and had 3 sauces whoop amazing work @juliana_intesar ✨

This was insanely good and I had a blast vibing - although it did get a little messy cuz I decided to pick the drum stick up 😅✨ worth it tho

I was eyeing the cornbread, cause it looked really good, but then I knew it would be a bit too much for one person so I ought to come back with company soon for it teehee

as I was paying the bill They gave me a free little icecream cuz they liked my painting- so cute ahhh

The key to a perfect rotisserie chicken? Let it sit!

@juliana_intesar, of @cleodowntown, walks us through how she makes the new West Village hotspot’s seven spice rotisserie, inspired by Lebanese chicken joints in London and Montreal and her own mother’s cooking.

Watch along, then link in bio to read more about rotisserie chicken’s comeback to the New York restaurant scene.

“My siblings and I used to joke that we ate chicken every single night,” Juliana Latif tells CULTURED.

The chef grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut, above her family’s Middle Eastern grocery and takeaway counter, where her mother cooked. The biggest lesson Latif learned there? “Treat the neighborhood like family.” That ethos is coming full circle at @cleodowntown, the new Three Top Hospitality joint where Latif heads the kitchen. Restaurateurs Halley Chambers and Kip Green sought inspiration for the new West Village hotspot in London’s Lebanese rotisserie shops, where Latif remembers them saying, “the chicken is the vessel.”

Link in bio to read more about the restaurant making rotisserie cool again.

No surprise that Halley and Kip’s Cleo would be a banger right from the start. Margot sure was, and Montague Diner too. But with chef Juliana Latif running the kitchen at the get-go, this might be their best restaurant, food-wise, yet. The juicy as hell roast chicken crackling with Lebanese spices and accompanied by three killer sauces is a knee-buckler, the sides are all big winners (cornbread with harissa butter, crinkle-cut fries, mustardy eggs, and gloppy as hell mac and cheese especially), and the dessert?? Are you kidding me with the soft serve in a concha profiterole??? We swooned. Great vibes, extremely West Village-y West Village corner, thanks Charlotte and Carolyn for the lovely night out 😘😘

Is this the BEST Rotisserie Chicken in NYC? Not sure- but it’s an absolute revelation. It can be found at the new @cleodowntown - comes with a trio of delish sauces too. And they are opening a take out window next wk. I’m IN! Also, you had me at chocolate soft serve with peanut butter crumble. Toodles! #foodiemagician #nyc #rotisseriechicken #westvillage

We hosted our first friends and family service at the diner 2 years ago today. Opening this restaurant and learning how to make it run was just so fucking hard. Still is. But my god, people love it. Regulars from all over the city, ranging in age from 6 months to 80. A perfect New York diner. I love being in this room and feel so much pride watching the team lead these services with such grace. They make it look so easy.

One of the highlights of my career has been working alongside the management team here @juliana_intesar @bonniehaul @younggluck - three of the most talented people I know, I don’t know how I ever got so lucky. Grateful everyday for the restaurant y’all are building!
