is it truly a Sam Chong vacation if Sam Chong doesn't post photos weeks late. see how that's not a question? just a fact.

thank you to @julibeewrites and @martinhalstrup for being the absolute best Seattle hosts a gal could ask for 💕 more rainy exploration days with books and cats please!!

I am so terribly awful at remembering to take photos so I have very few from all the hangouts and people I saw this month I am so sorry. I will aim to do better. thank you for your understanding. anyway. June.

decided i should probably do montly dumps on this account as well. for the record, the app recommended that i use the satc theme for the music (probably bc of the photo of me and my girls). anyway, so that was february. it was pretty cool.

Waited to do a 2025 wrapped until the year actually ended bc what if I did something really cool in the last week of December ??? (I didn’t)

2025 was the year my dream came true :-) there were some tough moments but even more amazing ones. I’m so lucky to live the life I do. Thank you to everyone who supported my books and me these last 365 days (and beyond!) 💖💖💖

i’ve always been a believer in keeping small but good circles. and i’ve been fortunate enough to have found it in jude, bernice, sol, sim, alex, and chloe.

i met bernice in another writing group, where we found ourselves brainrotting over our mutual love for niche interests i refuse to divulge here because i know all of you will judge us. juli, on the other hand, i met because of a call for beta readers. since then, we have been each other’s consistent critique partners. i don’t think i’ll ever be able to write a book without giving her a first look.

i came up with the idea of creating a server for nanowrimo sometime in late 2023 and from there, we introduced one another to some of our own friends friends—sol (our baby sister okkkk), sim (who is the funniest. this is undisputed), alex (maximum rizz, full stop), and chloe (lord of the moodboards). the goal was to keep the group small so we could track each other for a month. a month. it’s almost been two years and we’re still on that same server cheering each other on for every win and keeping one another company on the not-so-good days.

we wax poetic about each other a lot, so this really isn’t anything new, but i love these girls with my entire being. i know i’ll see our names on shelves one day.

I get shy when I talk about the books I’m working on and that keeps me from posting about them regularly, but since this is the year I’ve decided to face some of my fears and while we’re six months in, I’m hoping to change that! Last night, I realized I haven't properly introduced you all to the title of what I've been affectionately called Ghost Book 👻, and I thought why not soft launch it?

So, ladies and gentlemen… ✨her (Haunted Heart)✨

Haunted Heart is a closed-door paranormal romance between the living and the dead in which an unlikely alliance between a tortured artist and a haunted ghost blossoms and bends the dimensions between them. It’s the book of my heart and a study in grief, family, depression, and love. So much love it makes me a little sick, just kidding but also… 👀 I'll be getting my development edits back from my agent in July and to prepare, I have been dipping my toe back into the world after a few months off by immersing myself in the playlist and thought; why not give you Haunted Heart’s overall vibes through the lyrics of songs on the playlist I wrote the story to?

✨ Swipe through for quotes that sum up all the feelings encapsulated within it’s pages and let me know which one is your favorite!

~

If you’re new here—hi! I’m Alex and I write closed-door romances without sacrificing swoon and sensuality about brown girls getting their happily ever afters and the men down bad for them in contemporary and fantastical worlds. Follow along for updates on Haunted Heart and my other wips because I’ll have publishing news for you one day!

Some people come into your life and wreck it in the best way possible! These are people I’m glad I have in my corner. You should really follow some of these authors not only because they’re amazing people, follow them because they are amazing at their craft. I’m so grateful I get to call them friends! If I’ve forgotten you (somehow) you know who you are, I love you and thank you for making my corner of the interwebs an amazing place!

Who are the people you’re glad to have in your corner? Tag them down below!

Hey I’m Cassie and it’s so nice to meet you! I’m a 21 year old contemporary and dystopian author who is hoping to start the querying process July 2025. I’ve always loved the art of telling a certain story in the context of my life and so I’ve started on that journey. I have created a gen z podcast for gen z writers where I highlight their real life and fictional stories, Cassie’s Crafting Conundrum, which can be found wherever pods are cast. If you want to come along with me, I’d love it if you considered following me. If not, thanks for stopping by!
