Someone had a really bad day.

When I was getting the picture of Julie and I for my stories, I saw this random picture on my camera roll… and realized it is from the week of my mom’s funeral. 😭 I flew home from my mission for the week, and my best friends- no questions asked- immediately road tripped from college to be there with me. (I’m making myself cry typing this).
I realized looking at that picture that Sara and Julie were with me when my Dad died as well (second picture).
And darn it if that isn’t making me feel some kind of way. 😭
I’ve always felt that my biggest accomplishment in life is/are the people who love me… because they are pretty amazing. ❤️

My sister was adding some upgrades to the Bronco the other day. You better believe I went by the shop and had them add this underglow!

I had tik tok make me a little video of one of my favorite days in Hawaii (I mean, really they were all my favorite). Trying through pictures to get back to that special island bubble where reality hadn’t all the way set in. Back home I am feeling the absence of my Dad in my daily life in a very real and painful and depressing way… and I’m just SO sad. 😞 Guess I have to move to Hawaii, right @sarahorrocks ??

This beach was on my Hawaii bucket list, and it did not disappoint. 😍❤️ Absolutely perfect… and only accessible with a military hookup. (Thank you for your service Matt!) We finally remembered to bring the speaker, which was all fun and games until Country Roads (John Denver) came on the shuffle and I started sobbing. My love of John Denver and music in general was instilled in me by my Dad, for which I am so grateful. Through my tears I started telling Sara and Julie about a card I found a day or two before he passed. I had never seen it before (Gloria had dropped off an envelope with a bunch of pictures and things the other day and it was in there)… it was a card my mom had sent my dad when he had already moved to Tahoe (we were following a month or two later after Heather finished high school and the house sold). She had put a picture in it of the two of them hugging, and written on the back, “I miss your cozy hugs”. 😭 I haven’t let myself really think about my parents reuniting- I’m not sure why. Maybe a part of me is still pretending that my dad is going to be in Utah waiting when I get back. Typing that just made me start crying real hard, so I’m guessing there’s some truth to it haha. But when I leave this magical island, and have to face the full brunt of reality, I think it will bring me great comfort to know that my mom is giving him all the cozy hugs she wants. (And now I have snot and tears all down my face 😩😂).

I don’t know why my life is always like this- but if you know me you’ll be like, of course that happened. Haha. My best friends Sara and Julie surprised/gifted me with a trip to Hawaii. My first time away from the babies… my first time alone in years… so hard to arrange, and so exciting that I was able to. Julie and I are on the plane flying to Sara- wifi not working. About halfway through the flight, somewhere over the Pacific Ocean, I got my internet to start working- only to have a bunch of texts come through letting me know that my Dad had passed away that morning. Now I’m sitting here staring at the cursor blinking because what do I say that could capture the smallest part of my feelings? My Dad. My Daddy. 😭 I was not ready. I needed more time. So much more time. But I know he felt ready, as hard as that was for him, as well, to be saying goodbye to his life. When we landed, Sara (who had already been talking to my family) was waiting for us with leis that her daughter Paige had made for us… and she had made me a second one for my Dad. 🥹😭At first it felt like, why would this happen on the day I leave for Hawaii?!? It soon shifted into what felt like a beautiful gift from both my Heavenly Father, and my earthly father. I can grieve, cry, laugh, talk endlessly, and be loved and taken care of by my best friends- while my family is being watched over and taken care of back home. It’s almost like it was perfectly arranged. I am crying. I am grateful. My heart is full and broken all at the same time. I had the best dad in the world. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
