Over the years, I’ve spent a lot of money investing in myself through personalized coaching, and it wasn’t until today going through a new program presented by Dr. Julius Thomas courtesy of the Coaching at Compass Agent as CEO program to help fine tune Leadership, Mindset, and Personal Development has there been a conversation about mental health, depression, and self-regulating.

🏀 MORE THAN JUST BASKETBALL! 🔥

The Phenom Basketball Regional Camp in Davie, Florida, was about more than developing skills on the court. It was also about developing the mindset needed to succeed at the next level!

Our young athletes had the opportunity to hear from special guest speaker Dr. Julius Thomas, who knows a thing or two about competing at the highest level! 💯

🏈 Former NFL Pro Bowl Tight End

Last week, Joe McDonough attended the annual meeting of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) in Chicago. 90% of kids treated for cancer in the U.S. are treated at COG hospitals. The COG includes children’s hospitals from the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Approximately 2,000 clinicians (and a few non-clinicians, like Joe McDonough) gathered to discuss the latest clinical trials across the broad range of childhood cancers.

Joe was honored to go on stage to present the Dr. Peter Adamson Young Investigator (YI) Award. This award, funded by B+, honors Peter, the previous Chair of COG and a good friend of Joe's. Over the past 20 years, Peter has taught Joe that we need to develop bench strength by supporting young investigators. These young investigators are very impressive people who have accomplished a lot, but still need additional assistance. A young investigator is not someone in their 20s, but rather in their late 30s or 40s.

Joe also had the opportunity to have lunch with a tremendously interesting person named @julius_thomas Julius was a two-time NFL Pro Bowl tight end with the Denver Broncos and, post-NFL, has transitioned into a career as a clinical psychologist.

It was a great week, with brilliant minds, dedicated to the fight against childhood cancers.

@julius_thomas spent years believing strength meant pushing through everything. (It took him a long time to see that the mind needs training just like the body does, and that checking in early beats recovering from burnout later.)

That’s why he built the OP App. He wanted to create the support he didn’t have back then: a coach in your pocket that helps you check in, get your thoughts out, and treat rest as part of performance, not a weakness.

The first step doesn’t have to be a big one. It just has to be taken. 🧠

Your coach is coming. Link in Bio.

Spent World Mental Health Day at the 6th annual #MentalWealthExpo and it was such a beautiful event. So many people came out to invest in their mental health, purchase books, received tools and solutions from some amazing speakers, and #IyanlaVanzant was awarded the Mental Wealth Legacy award. Highly recommend this free event next year for anyone looking to heal and want to further educate themselves on mental health. Congrats @cthagod and @devibrown on another successful event ✨🧠

Progress doesn’t always look like pushing harder. Some days, progress is stepping back to recharge. On World Mental Health Day, here’s your reminder that your mental well-being is just as essential as your physical performance.

Rest is a requirement, asking for support shows strength, and low days do not diminish your value.

Let's drop the stigma and normalize listening to what our bodies and minds actually need. 🖤
