"This year, we advance this mission of deliberate impact. Ours is a journey driven by intention: not only to redefine the Nigerian and broader African art ecosystems but to fundamentally transform the livelihoods of the visual artists themselves.
And to all our exhibiting artists: this is your time. ENJOY IT."- Mr. Jeff Ajueshi. Founder, Artistic Director, and Lead Curator, Thought Pyramid Art Centre

Captured at Dotun Popoola’s 8th Solo Exhibition @villagebytikera in Abuja, this moment reflects a profound exchange between tradition and innovation as Chief Mrs. Nike Okundaye @nikeartgallery engages with my Reclaimed Heritage hand-painted and calligraphed agbada. Crafted from reclaimed textiles and enriched with symbolic imagery, indigenous patterns, and expressive calligraphy, the garment transforms discarded materials into a powerful narrative of cultural memory and renewal.

Her appreciation of the piece underscores the importance of preserving African heritage through contemporary artistic expression. More than a garment, the agbada stands as a wearable archive—honoring ancestral wisdom, celebrating sustainability, and reaffirming the enduring relevance of African creativity in today’s world.

Thank you greatly dear grandma.

I @masq_oje is constantly blown away by the creative community. Whether I’m talking to a welder, a painter, or a voice actor, I walk away with a new perspective every time. It’s a powerful reminder that our only real limitations are the ones we set for ourselves. @reclaimthebeauty @dotundavid_popoola

This vibrant series by @julz_arts speaks deeply about joy, growth, and the beauty of embracing life despite everything that comes with it.

The bright colors, stylish figures, and expressive atmosphere made the series feel alive to me. Beneath all the beauty and confidence in the paintings, there is still a deeper message about life, growth, and the importance of holding on to happiness through every stage of the journey.

To me, the series reflects the different moments we experience as humans. As we grow, life gives us joyful moments, painful experiences, lessons, memories, and silent battles that slowly shape who we are becoming. Sometimes people become so focused on surviving that they forget to appreciate the small beautiful moments happening around them.

I also love how the figures appear calm and confident within their environments. It feels like a reminder that even while chasing dreams, healing, struggling, or trying to become something greater, we should not lose ourselves completely in the process.

The works remind me that happiness does not always come when everything becomes perfect. Sometimes joy is found in growth, in hope, in small progress, and in choosing to keep going no matter what life looks like at the moment.

A colorful, emotional, and uplifting body of work from @julz_arts . 🔥
