and so my heart journey continues i fear 🫀

i had a successful PFO closure in september at university of ottawa heart institute. it went great, and recovery was going great (until it wasn’t 🤪)

nine days into recovery and i had gone to the ER with stroke symptoms. unfortunately, despite the success of my procedure, there is still more investigating to do.

next, i have upcoming appointments with the stroke prevention clinic, more testing with the heart institute, and a brain mri. we’ll see how it goes 🤞

thanks again to everyone who has supported and sent kind messages throughout this process. i hope that being open about this helps someone else struggling with their heart health, and that we can all raise awareness for heart health and the different forms it takes.

❤️ Peace out, September — what a month.

What started as simply wanting to support someone near and dear to my heart,( Jasmine) through the Jumpin2026 Campaign @ottawaheartinstitute quickly became something I genuinely looked forward to every single day.

Heart health already hits close to home for me. I’ve watched my dad recently be impacted by heart health concerns, and knowing that family history can play a role has made me think a little differently about taking care of my own heart, too.
So I committed to 30 days of movement — every single day.

And I did it. ❤️

30 days. Minimum 30 minutes a day! I Didn’t miss one.
There were lots of workouts at my gym( fav place) , Strength , yoga , dancing Zumba,sweaty hard days, lots of dog walks ( another fav) , and days where I had to get creative about what “movement” looked like. But that was probably one of my favourite lessons from this month — it doesn’t always have to look the same. I just have to move your body.
What started as a challenge became something of real value to me. It helped my heart, but it also gave me energy, cleared my head, challenged me and reminded me how much better I feel when movement is simply part of my day.
And this one is important:
❤️ Heart disease and stroke are the LEADING1 cause of premature death in women in Canada.

So ladies — take care of your hearts. Move your body in whatever way works for you. Walk. Dance. Lift. Stretch. Sweat. Grab the dog and head outside. It all counts.

I’m pretty proud of this month, pretty grateful for the reason I started, and very excited to keep going.
