L o r e n a // The Lorena Draped Dress is part of the zero waste collection. It is a versatile style that can go from day to night with the perfect accessories from your own collection and from @junglebling natural jewelry handmade by rainforest artisans. It fits every body beautifully. Thin, curvy, fit, short or tall, you will love the way it looks on you. The rectangular wrap around draped style can also be knotted, as pictured on one of the photos, for a different look. Made with a buttery-soft organic Pima cotton lightweight knit, grown by small family farms in Peru, each dress is a one-of-a -kind garment. Featuring eco prints that are individually hand printed with plants by my talented cousin and designer @nathalieshapiama using leaves, flowers and her special techniques. Solid colors are individually hand dyed by master artisan and dyer @jocabethartesania from the Yanesha community in the Peruvian Amazon jungle. One Size. Fits Small to Large. Price includes shipping. For the capsule collection shop at https://thesageandthebutterfly.square.site - link in bio or DM me if you want to pay via Venmo, Zelle, PayPal or Apple Pay. Follow @violetavillacorta_studio for more. Why organic natural fabrics and plant dyes? Because the skin is the biggest organ and absorbs everything. So it’s beneficial to dress your body with healthy clothes. Synthetic and conventional fabrics are full of toxic chemicals that are unhealthy for the soil, ecosystem, workers all along the chain of production and down to the wearer. Wearing organic natural clothes with plant dyes are good all around. You can feel their higher frequency. It feels good. It looks good. It is good for the temple and the soul. • • • • • • • • • #ecoprint #sustainablefashion #fashion #ecofashion #organicclothes naturalclothes organiccotton slowfashion ecofashion hechoenperu madeinperu handmadeinperu colorgrownorganiccotton colorgrowncotton naturalclothing cleanclothes ecomoda modaecologica violetavillacorta seasonless seasonlessfashion healthyclothes bohemianfashion organicclothes healthyfashion naturalfashion

A r t e s a n a s // This past weekend with talented artists and artisans from all over Peru and South America at @festivallimateje in Lima. Here two artisans from Puno in this photo. Their traditional clothing is so rich in embroidery and color. They were happy to pose, if they could take a picture of a necklace I wore from the Awajun artisans in the Amazon jungle, which I sell @junglebling and at the Sage & the Butterfly pop-ups. This festival is filled with all things yarns, knitting and weaving. There are knitters, weavers, embroiderers that come from all over Peru and Latin America to sell their collections. There’s also a dedicated section for just yarns. My go to booth is @frigg_textile by @yuki_textil , friend and anthropologist specialized in Peruvian ancestral weaving and revival of ancient native cotton. Yuki is co-owner of @kop.peru, one of my favorite gems in Barranco to shop for unique well designed artisanal collections made my talented artisans in Peru. I got some more Japanese linen threads pre-festival that Yuki brings back from Japan. Plus I got a few more plant dyed cotton threads that I can’t wait to use on garments for @violetavillacorta_studio 🍃 Follow @thesageandthebutterfly Visit our websites below: Website: www.theSageandtheButterfly.com Shop All: https://thesageandthebutterfly.square.site Dylan’s website: www.sageblades.com Vio’s website: www.violetavillacorta.com Shop @junglebling: www.orgbyvio.com Food: www.richveganrecipes.com Music: www.wildvioletmusic.com You can also follow @sageblades and @violetavillacorta plus @violetavillacorta_studio @violetavillacorta_art @junglebling @richveganrecipes • • • • • • • • • #limateje #artisans #naturalyarns #culture #peru

T e ñ i d o // In Chinchero, we visited an artisan who showed us how she dyes her yarns prior to hand weaving them into stunning textiles. They use plant dyes, such as leaves, bark, flowers, corn, tubers, earthen clays (and insects) to achieve a large amount of beautiful and rich colors. They also make their own yarns and threads. Hand washing the fibers to an almost white, ready to take the color. While she showed us the process without the boiling part, to achieve the desired colors, the yarns are always boiled in water with the natural dye and a fixer to set the desired color. Follow @thesageandthebutterfly as we catch up with our latergrams…and our more recent stories. Visit our links in bio to buy the goods Vio makes and also has other artisans made in Peru, and Dylan’s knives that he handcrafts and sells all over the world. K w i c h a T e x t i l e // This gorgeous textile is hand woven by Kichwa artisans from the Wayku community in Lamas, San Martin in the Peruvian Amazon jungle. The wild cotton grows in their territory. They harvest wild cotton, spin into thread, dye it with plants and then weave the threads into exquisite textiles. The process from growing, harvesting, making thread, dyeing and weaving takes months to complete. The texture is nubby, as the cotton threads are spun by hand irregularly. It is warm and has a sturdy weight. It can be worn as a throw in cooler weather, and can also be hung as wall art or displayed over a sofa or furniture piece. When I saw it, I fell in love with it. It is a precious handcrafted piece of wearable art. $350 Available via Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay, PayPal, and by appointment, if you are in Sandpoint, Idaho. This is not on our website. H a n d W o v e n T e x t i l e s // Beautiful textiles handwoven by talented artisans in the mountains and jungles of Peru. Ikat de Cajamarca are exquisite textiles from the area where my family is from in Peru. In Cajamarca, they are known as “paño de leche” because they are used to cover babies as they breastfeed. The process is a laborious mathematical method where strands are selected and separated for the indigo dying process to create the intricate patterns as they are woven. They are finished with a beautiful hand-knotted lace, ending with a long twisted fringe. Each takes over a month to hand weave by master artisan + weaver Laura Sanchez. The Plaid Native Cotton textile is hand woven by Kichwa artisans in the Wayku community in Lamas, San Martin, in the Peruvian Amazon. The wild native cotton fibre grows in their communities. It’s harvested and made into thread. The thread is used in its natural colors and also dyed with plants. It is woven into a textile in plaids, stripes or other patterns. From its growing and harvest seasons, to hand spinning it into a thread, dying and hand weaving, they take a few months to make. These textiles are true works of art. They can be worn as throws, displayed over a piece of furniture or sofa to use on a cool day, and hung as wall art. These aren’t on the website, so DM me. Some have already been sold.
