O c e a n C r e a t u r e // Me, the ocean, the board, the sun, wind and sky. Surfing the delicious cold ocean is one of the things I love most about being in Peru part of the year, aside from accompanying mom.

The ocean is cold and so refreshing during hot summer days and so invigorating in winter.

I’m in love with this connection with water. Nothing like being immersed in mother earth’s salty womb.

I always get in the water by myself and run into the locals in the water. But there’s nothing like when it’s just me with the ocean, no one else. I even get to talk to the water, sending harmony to all shores of the world for all to thrive, love and enjoy this physical and spiritual experience on earth.

Second video, I’m taking my last wave of my 2+ hour session, straight to shore.

The first 2 videos are by @costaazul_surf, a guy who was filming with his drone at that surf spot.

The 3rd and 4th videos are by local surfer Kuntur Condor Surf filming from the water.

The last two are by Enrique, the driver that takes me surfing every time. I don’t drive in Lima… I don’t want the stress or catching any of their bad driving habits.

Sometimes, mom comes along and watches while she takes in the beneficial negative ions from the ocean and a little sun.

F a m i I i a // Being with the family together is what I love the most in life. It’s always so fun and sweet, full of love.

We all met in Lima. The only one missing was Dylan, who was in Idaho. We enjoyed spending time at mamita’s house and sightseeing around Lima.

We made the best of each moment. Wishing it could’ve been longer.

H u n t i n g // We went mushroom hunting over the weekend. Foraging, where we live, is one of our favorite things to do when the weather gets cooler and wetter.

Found lots of honey mushrooms that I used to prepare our delicious meals. No food photos this time. Just some of the beautiful mushrooms we found and the gorgeous view on our walk.

Wellbeing + Health = Wealth

Rich flavor and nutrition are a perfect combination. Every time I prepare a meal for visiting friends who aren’t vegan, they say if they could eat this deliciously every day, they’d switch. I love the sound of that.

Plant food is a path toward a compassionate vegan lifestyle. When we live our lives and nourish our temples without the abuse of animals, we embrace compassion on all levels. The cleaner the temple, the more harmony we experience on Earth.

H e a r t y // I made a delicious spelt and tapioca bread with nutritional yeast the other day. It’s a variation of my vegan pão de queijo in my recipe book.

I’ve been missing the fresh spelt sourdough bread I was getting in the US and Peru. No one has been making the ones I like in the last year. I love black bread for its hearty taste and nutritional benefits.

H i l a r i o u s // Now, this is why stacking firewood is my favorite thing to do… I can barely hold that huge ax! It’s almost my size.

This is from 2023.

There’s a technique to it. I obviously haven’t gotten the swing of it or the hand slide motion on my first day. I’ve yet to master it!

And yeah, genius, I’m doing it with my shiny flip flops 😅 Lucky, I held on well to the ax.

In other posts you’ll see Dylan doing the hard work of hauling fallen trees from around the forest to the property. Then he saws them and chops them to the right size.

Winters are long and the snow pack that piles on trees sometimes it’s too much for some trees. So every year there are trees that have come down, cracked in half or are barely standing.

S t a c k i n g // One of my favorite things to do is stacking firewood. Dylan does the hard work of hauling fallen trees from around the forest to the property. He saws them and then chops them to the right size.

A few days ago.

Winters are long and the snow pack that piles on trees sometimes it’s too much for some trees. So every year there are trees that have come down, cracked in half or are barely standing.

In another post, you’ll see more of what takes place prior to stacking… including my hilarious attempt at chopping wood with an ax half my size 😅

B l a c k P a s t a S a u c e // This was a fun dinner to prepare. The potent black sauce gets its color by using Cushuro in powder form.

Cushuro is a cyanobacteria or algae that grows in streams and lakes in the Andean highlands. Nicknamed “Caviar of the Andes,” because of its round transparent shape, it is harvested by hand from high-altitude waters. It’s a superfood rich in protein, more than meat or quinoa, and also provides calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium, vitamins A and B, and essential amino acids. Beyond cuisine, Cushuro is valued in natural remedies for boosting immunity and treating inflammation and it’s even used in cosmetics and hair products.
