A week ago today we finally moved house, it's been a long and stressful journey but worth every moment when I get to see views like this across the lane from my beautiful country cottage. 'March Cottage' already feels like home, I wake up every day so grateful that I get to live in such a wonderful place. I can't begin to express how happy I am! During the moving process whenever my anxiety would surface I would always check my Instagram friends @of_moor_and_mountain and @junkboxgypsy who always made me feel positive with their inspirational words, so thank you Zoe & Jenny - you didn't realise it but you both helped me very much. I see you. We see you. Keep showing up. Persist. Go to the forest, go to the cave, go to the sacred river for nourishment and renewal, but keep coming back, bigger and more powerful than ever. Here’s a little reminder from Bill Plotkin: “You're attempting to bring mystery, wildness, deep imagination, and praise of the sacred (the natural) to a society obsessed with security, comfort, material wealth, and the ownership of things. The culture you live in consists mostly of commodities and objects, while all things you encounter are entities and subjects. As an Artisan in an egocentric world, you have no guarantee that society will welcome your gifts. It's possible that people will look upon your innovations or your original voice as odd, irrelevant, or crazy, or perhaps as subversive or immoral. Or you might do your work in complete obscurity and frustration, at least for a while. In an egocentric society its easier to become discouraged in the always difficult work of creative innovation, beause its easier to convince yourself that no one cares about what you have to offer. But this is just a strategy of the Loyal Soldier, who is still attempting to keep you safe by making you feel small. Thank him or her for his/her kind intentions, and stay on your course. The fact is, in an egoentric world, your soul gifts are needed EVEN MORE than in a healthy one. Remember that self-doubt is as self-centered as self-inflation. Your obligation is to reach as deeply as you can and offer your unique and authentic gifts as bravely and beautifully as you're able. WALKING EACH OTHER HOME I love that line, “We’re all just walking each other home,” by Ram Dass & Paul Gorman in their book How Can I Help. But what does it mean? I think in part it means we are here to help each other live into our wholeness and deep belonging. That we all have some feeling of separation, and anxiety around not knowing what the #€^¥! we are doing, that we yearn for aliveness, for being challenged to be our best selves, for being seen for who we are, and for being accepted for that, the good, bad, ugly, and yes, the beautiful. ~ Experience Writes Me... Experience Writes the Poem ~ . . As though the ocean had risen Enveloped us all, then come to a boil... We are cooked in our juices...steamed right off the bone Lie here and listen to the cicada, the cracked bodies they are leaving to feed us Their song so dense, ...how it fractures our senses in these several months of its constant purl ...of flies and mosquito who pester and thrive. How forgetful we are. How opinionated we become of the weather, the earth and all the iridescent family ...but here on this night we’ve lain ourselves down and listened and waited We’ve made a broad pact to be still in her moment. We can’t quite restrain ourselves wondering how next year, next month or even how tomorrow might be ...then in the darkness the clouds pass and she speaks out The winds can’t contain her. A Snapshot of a Spiritual Practice in Action: Conversing with, Creating with and Working from my Soul Center: ——- First, the stress (“good” and “bad”) I am feeling mentally and physically: 1. A bunch of drawings done that need to be painted and inked. 2. A feeling there’s not enough time. 3. A need for play. 4. A need for structure. ——— Second, a response from God: ❤️ 1. Lay it all out. 2. Look at those colors! 3. Grab that clock and set a timer! 4. Lets get to work! ———- My response to God: 1. That’s an old cuckoo clock that doesn’t work. 2. Are you even kidding me?! ———- God’s response to me: 1. Not kidding. 2. Sometimes you need to lighten up. 3. Can you try working from your heart and not your mind today? This is a project that can’t be “managed”. 4. I love you. 5. It’s ok to laugh, I’m quite funny. 6. Let’s get to work! ❤️😆🙏 When I’m overwhelmed, I pause and breathe deeply...at least 10 times. And I ask point blank, “God-within and God-with, I need help, I don’t know what to do first.” —— After years of doing this I sometimes have a whole conversation with the Divine. It’s always in an ordinary language I understand. It’s not that poetry and theology and the mysterious don’t exist in my life, they do. But I’m an everyday person with an everyday relationship to God (Love abiding in me and Love surrounding all things). It’s personal. And casual. And silly. And I’m ok with that. The “big and important” feels come at other times. —— In this way, I am convinced I can always come as I am and I will always be greeted where I am....with love (and maybe a bad timepiece) In all seriousness, that clock was already on the table...right where it doesn’t belong 😂 Is this true for you? Do you find yourself being greeted by Love in the most ordinary of ways...just showing up in the mess and stress?

How was it? We’re trying out this 500 year old prayer called the Examen in a 2018 context. It’s all about awareness, relationship, observation, connection and LOVE❤️ Here’s what I noticed last night: -Pausing & gratitude came naturally. -Reviewing my day and asking about where I felt connected/loved? SNAG! SLAM! TILT! FULL-STOP! 😬 I couldn’t remember my day! (This has happened before.) AND...I had a chip on my shoulder about feeling love...feeling anything. 🤨 I felt resistance even though the Examen is part of my daily life. It’s ok. There’s no prize we’re racing for...no mindfulness/prayer trophy. What is offered is relationship. 🙂 And the Examen is flexible so I let what was bubbling up, bubble up. “I feel disconnection and resistance just doing the Examen tonight. I had a great day. I got a lot done, but there’s more to do and I’m behind and I don’t have time to sit around and think about silly feelings.” ...🧐 I just observed this. Because those are feelings right there even if they’re pretending not to be. 🙏 An inviting question crept in...”Did anything feel GOOD today?” ...🧐 Bringing my work outside in the sunshine. That felt good. ❤️ Another inviting question: “What about that felt good?” ...🧐 I was working but also enjoying my surroundings. Busy, but joyful. 🙂 And I just sat with that. That was all I could get out. Wrapping it up with gratitude felt “easy” and I fell asleep 💤 This morning, a re-orientation, a new posture was at my feet. It sounded like this (note the lack of “should”): ❤️ “I love you. Working is often joyful and it feels good to step outside or change context. What do you think about breaking up the day into some different environments since you’ll be alone a lot today?” 🧐 Yeah. I like that. Thank you God. Thank you self. That doesn’t sound silly at all. ❤️ What I want to share is this: there’s a process to the Examen, a mindful method, but it’s just a loose structure for the real treasure which is a growing relationship with your divine center, your inner compass. It’s you and God deep down talking it out no matter how “silly” ❤️ Thoughts on your experience? I would ❤️ to hear them friends!
