You know that one person who has had a huge impact on your career? Who comes to mind for you?

For me, that person is unquestionably Ashley Berke.

Earlier this week, Ashley was inducted into the Philadelphia Public Relations Association (PPRA) Hall of Fame — a truly deserved and meaningful honor, reflective of her impact in Philadelphia and beyond. She even received a special recognition from the City of Philadelphia! 🎉

Ashley has led communications efforts for some of the city’s most storied institutions including The Philadelphia Orchestra and the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine. She recently took on an exciting new role at Princeton University!

I have had the incredible blessing of getting to work with Ashley in different chapters of our professional lives.

First, she was my amazing boss when I worked as the communications manager at the National Constitution Center, when she was leading PR there.

This was my last fulltime job before launching my communications consulting business in 2013. In fact, Ashley played an important role in the launching of my business.

When she moved on to direct communications at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (Penn Vet), she hired me to serve as the editor of Penn Vet’s Bellwether magazine. Penn Vet became the first major client of my fledgling communications business, and looking back, that opportunity gave me the confidence to take the leap into becoming an entrepreneur. ❤️⚡️🥹

I served as Penn Vet magazine’s editor for 3-4 years, which included working closely with Dr. Joan Hendricks, the school’s first woman dean. It was an amazing chapter and I can’t thank Ashley enough for that pivotal opportunity — as well as the chance to collaborate again during her time at the Orchestra.

This week’s event was full of testimonials that made clear how many people treasure Ashley’s extraordinary communications savvy, her integrity, her tireless work ethic, her above and beyond dedication to getting a story told well. The ceremony was a reminder that excellence and kindness are worthy of celebration. It was a wonderful reunion too!

Congrats Ashley - you rock!

After an intense week of house hunting (which was a success!) and working remotely, I got to finish off the weekend visiting a few of my dear Philly friends, reminiscing at old stomping grounds, and eating at some of my favorite vegan restaurants! Dori came up to party with us ❤️ #philly #philadelphia #oldfriends #reunion
