Fancy having your work screened across the globe? Well this could be your chance. Founded by @StudioDumbar back in 2019, @DEMO.Festival is a celebration of cutting edge motion design. For 24 hours, advertising spaces across cities are taken over and turned into a curated, non-commercial showcase of incredible motion pieces. From train stations and shopping streets to large-scale urban screens, the festival replaces ads with experimental, artistic and playful digital works, bringing motion design directly into daily life. Central to DEMO is its open call, which invites designers from all backgrounds and levels of experience to submit work, whether you’re reading this from your university studio or you’re deep into a decade-spanning career. This past year reminded me that live seems to have its own logic, being totally unexpected, playful and rarely predictable. It felt like the accumulation of 20 years of working together with and for friends. Going back to 15 years ago I regularly threw parties under the name dumdum. Out of this grew close friendships (you know who you are ❤️) that turned into collaborations in many different forms. 12 years ago I got a studio visit from three young guns that had just started an new art fair. That visit pulled me into @unfair_amsterdam , and what followed was years of partner- and companionship, building a new kind art initiative, mostly learning by doing. A year ago these two worlds collided. I quietly started something new with two of those friends from different worlds; @adamnillissen and casboland . We started a little company called @somehowcreativeservices. Reflecting how the creative process never goes in a straight line — it bends, twists and surprises. Somehow, it always leads to exciting places. The studio absorbed what was studio Bas Koopmans into a new vehicle. We’ve remained close strategic partners of @petervdes and @unfair_amsterdam, plus working with clients like Humanistisch Verbond, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, IBA, Heist, Boijmans van Beuningen, Popronde, to name just a few. At the same time we started Somehow, we secretly started working on a second project. Something that had been brewing for a while, and honestly felt like a far-fetched dream. Now, after a year of working quietly in the background, we can finally say it out loud: we’re starting a museum. Tomorrow we open @villa_ams — a New Home for Contemporary Art at Westergas, Amsterdam. An intimate museum that will host a wide range of artists in an easy-to-experience way. We’re almost done, and very excited to start sharing this out in the open. Come visit!

Earlier this year, we collaborated with the S̲t̲e̲d̲e̲l̲i̲j̲k̲ M̲u̲s̲e̲u̲m̲ A̲m̲s̲t̲e̲r̲d̲a̲m̲ on the campaign for Ｕｎｒａｖｅｌ：𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘛𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘳𝘵. Developed with the Barbican in London, this exhibition celebrates textiles’ power through 100+ works by 45 artists, exploring resilience, love, and resistance. We added a little ꔛ visual ꔛ stitching to bind the campaign together. 𝙳𝚎 𝚅𝚘𝚕𝚔𝚜𝚔𝚛𝚊𝚗𝚝 gave it ✦✦✦✦✦ — catch it until January 5th!
