To my beloved dance community…

It is such a privilege to facilitate An Evening of Quiet, an event offered through @justaskpdx for you.

The level of stress, polarization and trauma our bodies are experiencing right now is relentless. Most everyone is exhausted and feeling the strain. If this is you, you are not alone. Tools that may have worked in the past are no longer working the same way.

The intention for this evening is to reduce physical and emotional stress and to gently develop somatic awareness through trauma-informed, floor based practices, which include tuning into body sensations without judgment, conscious breath and nervous system support. In this way, we build greater capacity to be with all that is arising and to attune to our bodies’ needs in a new way.

Imagine arriving and settling onto the floor by candlelight. Ethereal music will hold the space as we travel inward…slowly, gently and at your own pace. Some moments may feel like floating. Like a kind of inner space travel, moving through sensation rather than story, breath rather than thought.

No experience is necessary. This is a gentle introduction to these practices and you are always welcome to opt out of anything. If you want to lie on the ground for the full 2 hours, you are more than welcome to do that and let yourself be held. For my neurospicy folks, yoga straps will be available if you’d like to experience containment. Ear plugs too.

Afterwards, we will land softly together, sip a little tea and eat chocolate and allow some time to return to the space and each other.

📅 Sunday, March 29th | 7–9PM
📍 Awakenings Wellness, 1016 SE 12th Ave

What to bring/wear: yoga mat, a blanket or cozy item, warm & comfy clothes, cozy socks (shoes off in the space) and water if you would like. Mats, blankets and bolsters are available if needed. Phones will need to be turned off.

Another fun Chillchata in the books! 🥳✨

Thank you to everyone who came out this past Sunday for our second meetup! It was so wonderful getting to see folks connect through both dance and conversation ❤️

Friendliest reminder that though Chillchatas emphasizes socializing with your dance peers, we still offer and encourage dancing!

We intentionally pick a space where we can do both, so if folks attend just wanting to dance they’re more than welcome to, we just wanted to give the opportunity for folks to get to know the fellow dancers in their community :) We can’t wait to do it again, and hope to see you there when we do! 🤗✨

Our very first Chillchata was a success! 🥳✨

Seeing dancers from all styles & dance backgrounds come together, talk, laugh, share stories and build connection off the dance floor was truly special ❤️

Thank you for showing up exactly as you are and making the space feel warm, welcoming, and community-centered. We can’t wait to do it again, and hope to see you there when we do! 🤗✨

Ready to Chill…chata? 😎🧡
Portland dancers, we’re trying something new — a casual community hangout where we can connect beyond the dance floor.

Expect:
🎶 Music & a small dance area
🤝 Icebreakers + low-pressure mingling
🥤 Snacks & chill vibes
🙌 A welcoming space for every dancer

📅 November 30
⏰ 2–5pm
📍 Downtown Portland
💰 Free!
📲 RSVP on Partiful to get the address (Link in Bio!)

Come hang out, chat, dance a little, connect a lot. 💛 Let’s build community outside the loud dance floor and actually get to know each other. See you there!
