One thing became crystal clear during this trip: POW Canada needs to be on Parliament Hill more often.

Last week, our athlete delegation traded ski boots for dress shoes and headed to Ottawa to make sure outdoor voices were part of conversations shaping Canada’s climate and energy future.

Turns out ski bums can clean up pretty well.
In just a few days, we took part in 26 meetings. But the biggest takeaway wasn’t a policy announcement or a headline, it was a reminder of the power of showing up.

As @mikedski put it:

“Each time we go, our voice in the climate space gets a little bit louder. We become more recognizable, more influential, and ultimately better equipped to affect policy change.”

Every one of those conversations was stronger because we weren’t showing up as individuals. We were showing up on behalf of a community of more than 43,000 POW Canada members.

Thank you for helping bring the outdoor voice to Parliament Hill. We’re just getting started 👊

One crash changed his life. But it never took away his passion.

The Freedom Chair follows @justdueck 's journey from a life-changing spinal injury to the top of the world. A story about obsession. Reinvention. About refusing to let gravity, pain, or fear decide who you are.

The people behind the Paralympics ❤️

I'm so lucky to be surrounded by such a supportive team, good friends, fierce competitors, and of course my family! Honestly it was such a special experience to cross the finish line, hearing all the cheers, and knowing that I was about to get a biiig hug from my mom. I want that for every race!

There are so many people who made this Paralympics special, and kept reminding me that there's much more to this than simply racing. I have immense respect for my competitors who give their best efforts every race with grit and determination, but off the course, are some of the kindest humans I know. I absolutely live for our finish line hugs. I am so proud of every Paralympian!

I know we were only there for 2 weeks but I feel like I left with a year's worth of memories. I'm grateful for all the experiences and opportunities I had 🤌🏻

I miss the Paralympics, I miss the people!

Thank you @mphcentral and @nmah_media for the pics!

Our first full day at the #Regener8Summit in beautiful #Canmore, Alberta has already provided SO MANY unforgettable memories! 🎉🎉

To kick things off, we received a powerful opening address and prayer from Elder Heather Poitras, followed by a fascinating overview of current issues and the latest innovations in forestry and forest management from @albertaforests Products Association President Jason Krips!

Next, we split up into groups for a series of interactive breakout sessions with Alberta Regional Caribou Knowledge Partnership, @abbiodiversity, and Elder Heather Poitras and her daughter Anastasia. 🦌🌳

After a delicious lunch from the @coastcanmorehotel, we ventured into the mountains of Canmore to take part in some seriously fun hands-on activities with @albertawildfire and a comprehensive look into wildfire management with West Fraser and the Town of Canmore Bow Valley Community Fireguard! 🧑‍🚒👩‍🚒🌲

Last but certainly not least, we were treated to a truly inspiring message about grit, grace, and gratitude from two-time Paralympian Josh Dueck! We couldn’t be more grateful to Josh for sharing his awe-inspiring story with us! 🙌🥰

Before breaking his back, Mike had no idea sit skiing even existed.

Discovering it changed everything.

After coming across a video by Canadian Paralympic champion Josh Dueck, something shifted. What started as inspiration quickly turned into hope, and that hope became a turning point.

Skiing didn’t just open up a new experience, it sparked a whole new direction for Mike. It became the beginning of a bigger vision, and the early seeds of what would eventually become Adaptdefy.

Now it’s your turn, what adaptive hobbies or activities have you tired? Did any of them spark inspiration for you?

Jeux Paralympiques Milan-Cortina 🏔
Jour 4 - 5 mars

J-1 ! 🔥
