Overall satisfied with the meet, ended up throwing up 15 times during the day which depleted me horribly for bench and deadlift, and probably contributed to the head rush that knocked me down. I injured my lower back 2 weeks out as well which was a big roadblock I had to fight with in training and meet day. This was easily the hardest I’ve had to push myself physically but it was all very worth it.

Heading to provincials next in 3 months and bulking up to 83kg for some bigger numbers

Huge thanks to @overdrivestrengthtraining for the coaching and handling, couldn’t have been much better. And huge thanks to everyone who came up to watch and support me

Justin Langille Deadlift Comparison -

One week out - 227.5kgs / 501lbs @ RPE 10

Meet Day - 227.5kgs / 501lbs @ RPE 9 tops

Nothing like taking your all time PR for a second attempt on the National stage.

These clips showcase a fatigued training state versus a fresh tapered state.

Morale of the story - don’t freak out if your final singles in prep move slower than expected.

Taper = clutch.

Some highlights from Justin’s last couple blocks -

Deadlift: 200kgs / 441lbs x 4 (12.5kgs off meet PR)

Bench: 90kgs / 198lbs x 2 (5kgs over meet PR)

Squat: 145kgs / 320lbs x 5 (10kgs off meet PR)

All time best 5RM PR for Squat, 2RM PR for Bench and 4RM PR for Deadlift

Justin is in the middle of Week 2 of his CPU Nationals 2025 Peak. Follow to stay up to date with his progress!

Big total brewing ⏳

BCPA Summer Open 2024 Meet Recap

Justin Langille, Sub-Junior 83kg

Squat - 155kgs / 341lbs (12.5kg meet PR)
Bench - 85kgs / 187lbs (5kg meet PR)
Deadlift - 212.5kgs / 468lbs (12.5kg meet PR)
Total - 452.5kgs / 996lbs (30kg meet PR)

Justin put together a solid day despite getting in a car accident two weeks out, leading to a week of missed training as a result. We salvaged what we could the remainder of the peak. He also weighed in a light 76kgs on the day.

Squats were very strong on the day.. but due to missing his opener by stepping back at lockout (lost balance) we had to adjust the gameplan to go up just 2.5kgs to his second attempt which resulted in a critical third attempt call where we decided to go up 10kgs from 145kgs, putting us at 155kgs and it ended up being the perfect weight on the day.

Bench took a bit of a hit from the week off, so we took a more conservative approach jumping just 5kgs from first to second, and 2.5kgs from second to third. Unfortunately due to some cramping on his third we were unable to grind out 87.5kgs, leaving us with our 85kg second attempt; resulting in a 5kg meet PR.

Deadlifts peaked perfectly. After squatting and benching a bit lower than we had intended; the focus shifted to ensuring we hit the national qualifying total on his second attempt.. meaning we took a nice easy 192.5kg opener and jumped 20kgs to 212.5kg on his second attempt to pull for the QT. The thinking behind this was if Justin for whatever reason misses his second - we have another crack at it on his third. That wasn’t necessary as he smoked it on his second and we proceeded to load up 220kgs for his third but just ran out of energy on the day.

Incredibly proud of Justin’s performance. A 30kg meet PR just two weeks after getting in a car accident is very impressive and it’s an absolute pleasure to work with him! Onto Nats ⏳
