I read mostly political and presidential history, but I also love reading about pop culture every now and again. As a child of the 90s in New York, rap was a consequential part of my upbringing, and the intertwined stories of Biggie, Tupac and Puffy are utterly fascinating and essential if one is to truly understand America. Two of the best biographies I have EVER read are “It Was All a Dream” by the great and kind @justintinsley (we have been honored to have him on the show), and “Only God Can Judge Me” by @jeff_pearlman

I am completing the trifecta by reading the newly-released “Bad Boy for Life” by Rolling Stone correspondent @cheyenneroundtree who has painted an incredible portrait of Puffy. I’m only about a hundred pages in, but Cheyenne’s reporting and character development are top-notch. There are tragedies throughout the story, and some of it is difficult to read because of how Combs treated people, but I can’t recommend this book any more highly.

And by the way, are the names of the books in this picture not absolutely perfect?

The narrative: Jay-Z is struggling to book the Super Bowl halftime show.

The reality: record audiences, Emmy wins, and some of the biggest artists in the world.

Justin Tinsley breaks down why the real question isn't who Hov books next, but whether he'll finally take the Super Bowl stage himself.

J.R. Smith & Justin Tinsley Give Charles Oakley His Flowers 👏🏾

For years, we’ve seen the headlines and the false narratives. The Fellas wanted to make sure Charles knew how much his impact truly means.

A proud HBCU alum of Virginia Union University, where he became a Hall of Famer, Charles has continued to use his platform to give back and uplift communities in need. His Charles Oakley Foundation has worked to fight hunger and poverty through initiatives like Oak Out Hunger. #ForTheFellas

J.R. Smith & Charles Oakley have a LOT to say about Jaylen Brown’s Celtics exit. 👀

The two NBA veterans share with @_iambmac why they believe Jaylen Brown was traded from Boston to Philadelphia and argue that race and skin tone played a role in how he was treated. “The darker the skin go, he gone go.” - J.R.

Don’t sound so excited Charles 😂😂

The NBA legend was asked how he ended up on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and his answer was exactly what you’d expect: “It’s cool.”

Angela, girl… how you deal with this?! 😂

Sometimes, hearing someone else’s story helps you find the words for your own. ❤️

Justin Tinsley opens up about his mother’s battle with Alzheimer’s and shares how hearing Za’Darius Smith speak so openly about losing his mother helped him in ways he never expected.

What started as a conversation about loss became a powerful reminder that grief, love and the experiences we carry can connect us in ways we don’t always understand.

If you or someone you love is affected by Alzheimer’s, the Alzheimer’s Association offers a free 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900 for support, resources and guidance. You can also support Alzheimer’s research, caregivers and families through organizations like the Alzheimer’s Association or Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. #ForTheFellas

“Nobody gonna help you better than your dad.” — @TeamSwish

J.R. Smith dives deeper into the rift he says the NBA created between him and his father and how that distance impacted him early in his career.

The NBA Champion puts it into perspective: “You 19 years old and you got $3 million dollars in your pocket, what you gonna do? Go crazy!”

The OG not playing around 😂

The NBA legend calls this new generation of players and podcasters “soft” and says the league has started to feel more like a “European league.”

Oakley even takes it a step further and has a message for NBA Commissioner Adam Silver: “Pull your pants up.” 😳

Being a player is one thing. Being a parent is another.

Za’Darius Smith shares his fears with @_iambmac surrounding CTE and what the latest research means for the future of football. A recent study reported that 24.5% of 878 former NFL players who died from 2016–2021 had CTE.

As a father and a professional athlete, he says the possibility of CTE is something he thinks about personally, and he wants to see the NFL do more to protect the players who put their bodies on the line every Sunday.
