Finally, some proper surf again! 🌊
Back in El Médano, Tenerife, and the first few days have already delivered. Good wind, fun waves, and some seriously good sessions.
The most memorable sessions here are always the evening ones. That golden light, fewer people on the water, and even flying fish showing up while we surf… it doesn’t get much better.
The only problem? Justin and I were both in the water, so there was nobody behind the camera.

Footage van Peter Volwater? Dan weet je dat je goud in handen hebt. Videomaker @jurrienperdok dook diep in de archieven van filmer Frank Borghstijn (@kaapsfilm ) die in de jaren nul met Peter en andere pro’s de wereld over reisde voor zijn actiedocu Wild Birds.

Het resultaat is een klein eerbetoon aan onze naamgever, en vooral een dikke vooruitblik naar wat komen gaat.

We zien elkaar als Wijk ontwaakt! 🔥 Blijf ons volgen!

What started as the “holiday within the holiday”
became a day that will stay with us forever.

Elands Bay, South Africa 🇿🇦
Second windsurf session of our 2026 trip.
A powerful day on the water with fun conditions and an incredible group of friends.

Our buddy Justin injured his knee that day, which is exactly why he ended up behind the camera capturing these moments.

This session also became one of the last times our good friend Folkert Brouwers was filmed windsurfing before he sadly passed away.
What started as a fun day on the water has turned into memories we will cherish forever.

Gone with the Wind.
A tribute to Folkert Brouwers
A friend, brother, father, husband, and a true windsurf icon.
At one of the most beautiful places on earth, and one of his favorite places to windsurf, he had his final session.
After collapsing on the waterside at Swartriet, he passed away later in the hospital in Vredenburg, South Africa, on 29 January 2026.
At Swartriet, we said goodbye with heavy hearts.
He will be missed every single day
but never forgotten.
Rest easy, brother. 🌊🤍
