Remember when you could hop on the RT at Kennedy and Ellesmere to get the STC for the Tuesday movie discount. Remember when STC had a bulk barn? When there was a pet shop right across from it? Remember the youth hub in the mall or when “The Bay” was behind this wall?

I guess it’s one of those completion of the circle moments.
One day we’ll say “remember when” for this too.

Reminder that you can take yourself away from home but home never takes its self away from you
And that even if no one tells you…they see you

They see the message you share, the light you spread, the dedication you have to keep going and keep growing beyond the borough.

May we always remember to have gratitude for it.

Cheers to our journeys.🥂

If you’ve peeped the AstroSankofa jerseys just know your girl designed them

Seeing the whole team in the gear makes me giddy because they look so dope. It took a few tweaks to get it where it is, but I’m happy with how it turned out.

Thank you for trusting me with the vision. ✨

Allow me to reintroduce myself ✨💜

I’m Jamera - a digital to traditional artist of many talents and….well you’ll read the rest 🙂

On this page, I’ve shared art photos, video processesss - and I’d love to dive into a lil more story…starting with a bit of mine.

This year I look forward to sharing stories on the meaning behind the work I do, the process, and the synchronicities between art and everyday life. Stories of how I made things and stories that connect us through our divine creativity.

But before we get into all the nits and grits I’d love to know what brought you here, what made you stay and a good intention you’re setting for the year.

Thanks for being here 🙏🏾

A #blackhistorymonth moment:

I’ve been holding this project in for so long and now I can finally reveal the outcome. @takethettc and @astrosankofa have collaborated for their 3rd Black History Month Campaign - City Of Belonging: Celebrating Toronto’s Black Community Builders.

This opportunity started in late 2024 when I was presented the scope of designing this year’s campaign and painting an honouree - Debbie Douglas (@deb_a_douglas)

Debbie Douglas is the Executive Director of the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI). Known for her community leadership and being an advocate for immigrants and refugee rights, racial justice, and social equity in Toronto.

This portrait along with the paintings done
by the 5 more extremely talented artists:

@shannia.jpeg - Akua Benjamin
@jason_obrien_gallery_live - Adonis Huggins
@the_flying_bushman - Colleen Russell-Rawlins
@viagunna - Louis March
& @jazzy_jasana - Angela Robertson

…can be seen all across the Toronto transit line this February.

Stay tuned for an inside look at my process during the development of this project and catch the Artist Talk this Friday February 7th at Jane and Finch Mall 7:00 PM

Congratulations to the honorees, the artists, and thank you TTC team & AstroSankofa Arts Initiatives for the opportunity to be a part of history during Black History Month 🖤✊🏾🎉✨
